    1. Product Description

If paranormal erotica is your thing then Black Lace have just the book for you! Wildwood is a tale of two men, one beautiful forest and a choice that is as shocking as it is heart-warming.

Avril Shearing is a landscape gardener brought in to reclaim an overgrown woodland for the handsome and manipulative Michael Deverick. But among the trees lurks a tribe of environmental activists determined to stop anyone getting in, led by the enigmatic Ash who regards Michael as his mortal enemy.

Avril soon discovers that on the Kester Estate nothing is as it seems. Creatures that belong in dreams or in nightmares emerge after dark to prowl the grounds, and hidden in the heart of the wood is something so important that people will kill, or die, for it. Ash and Michael become locked in a deadly battle for the Wildwood - and for Avril herself.

    1. Wild, Woody and Wonderful

Reviewed: 22 May 2009 by PristineJustine, a Straight Married Female

When tree surgeon Avril is offered a job by the shadowy Michael Deverick after a chance encounter at a wedding, she has no way of knowing that there is more to the woodland on the Kester Estate than just trees. And when she meets the sinewy dreadlocked Ash, she is thrown into all manner of conflict – sexy nature boy versus sexy property magnate; environmentalist conscience versus money and power. But there is even more to it than that, as she is soon to find out.

As ever, Janine Ashbless offers us a sensual cornucopia, replete with ancient gods, forces of nature, lashings of al fresco delight and even a seduction scene at the Eden Project (I will never be able to look at those sculptures in the Mediterranean Biome in the same light again). Ash and Michael are both irresistible in their different ways – and for more reasons than are at first apparent.

Wildwood satisfies in so many ways – the kind of way one would expect from a Black Lace novel not least, but there is also something to please the historian, the naturalist, the folklore enthusiast and the lover of plain good writing alike. If you are looking for a read that is both arousing and intelligent, this will be right up your forest path.

I'm not usually into creature hybrid type stuff, but even that works here.
      Bottom line
Sex, nature, history, mythology, tension, more sex, and some more sex.

    1. Considering a new career? Become a tree surgeon!

Reviewed: 03 February 2009 by creativewriter1985, a Straight Going Steady Female

This is the first book from Janine Ashbless that I've read - but it won't be the last!

I wasn't sure where Wildwood was going when I first starting reading it, but there is a bit of back story which is necessary to lead you into the main action.

Main character Avril is a tree surgeon and starts a brand new, ridiculously high paid job for a man called Michael Deverick. She doesn't particularly like him, but he offered her such a great package with the job that she couldn't refuse. Problem is, he's now trying to offer her HIS package. Not that she's not attracted to him, she just doesn't like him.

Things get more complicated for Avril as strange things start happening around the cottage on Michael's grounds that she's living in. Strange beings wander the vicinity leaving Avril wondering what on earth is going on. Particularly when she meets another strange being from the woods - Ash. He's some kind of eco-warrior, determined not to let her into the woods, despite her protests that she'd never destroy it.

Then begins a battle for the Wildwood. There's something in there that's worth fighting for, and Avril is drawn into the battle, and into the beds of both men. Who will win?

This was a fantastic book. As I said it took a few pages to get into it, but after that it was non-stop sexy action. I didn't want it to end!

The supernatural element was different to anything else I've read.
      Cons
It ended too soon! I wanted to know what happened next.

A must-read. If you like erotic novels, pick this one up.
