How many times have you been told to use a condom? It's so normal that most of us think nothing of it. You can just pop into any chemist, supermarket or garage and pick up a pack.

Dental dams on the other hand are a nightmare to find on the high street, even in the backstreet sex shops, and should be a common purchase for any woman who has sex with other women.

Unfortunately, many of my lesbian friends are unaware of the existence of dental dams let alone having ever used one.

These are friendly, easy to use, flavoured and scented. Simply spread over the "desired" area and off you go. These are also great for medical roleplay.

As any woman who has sex with women probably knows, dental dams are impossible to find on the high street, even in sex shops or pharmacies, so I was delighted to see that Lovehoney stocks them.

Anything that makes sex safer is a plus in my opinion, and there's no reason to exclude lesbian/bi women from that.

When we first opened them I was surprised about the look and feel, I was expecting something see through and plastic like but they're actually really silky soft latex in a really light creamy beige-y colour.

You have to lube up first, then lay it over your bits... Boyfriend's first impression (which he didn't tell me until after!) was that it made my bits look like a split open value sausage! So best to use with the lights out maybe!

Felt surprisingly good while having my clit licked, not as good as without but really not bad at all! However, if he licked anywhere else there wasn't much sensation.

As for the flavours, they all smelt lovely but only the mint one seemed to taste of anything. Boyfriend said he had to really press his tongue down (much harder than he normally would) to get any hint of flavour out of the others.

We didn't use them for anal oral, but I'd imagine they'd be best used for this. We weren't brave enough though!

Overall they're not a bad product, I wouldn't use them with a long term partner who I knew was clean. But if I was single and mingling I would definitely use them, they're a brilliant idea. My boyfriend said he'd use them if he was asked to, but otherwise he'd wouldn't carry any.
