Latest Sex Toy Statistics from the USA
The Journal of Sexual Medicine has published new findings in to the use of sex toys in the USA.
As Cory Silverberg reports, the study of just over 2,000 women and 1,000 men shows that 52% of women and 45% of men have used a vibrator (New Research on Vibrator Use).
It appears that that people who use sex toys are more savvy when it comes to genital health, with a higher number of vibrator users having gynecological tests and performing self checks than those who don't use them.
Shockingly, they're not so hot when it comes to cleaning their toys, with 20% of men and 14% of women claiming they never clean them - a health risk in itself and inexcusable with long lasting and low cost sex toy cleaner so easily available.
As Silverberg says though, the results of the new study are quantitative only - and there's always room for more qualitative research (What Surveys and Marketers Tell Us About Vibrator Use).
"Research on sex toy use shouldn't be any different than research on how we use cell phones, electric razors, or microwaves," says Silverberg "While it's wise to have some critical concerns about research that is funded by an interested for-profit company, it's exciting to see a company actually commit time and money to researching sex toys."
