Sex and The Prostate: The Bottom Line

I was delighted to see TV presenters Jon, Dan and Peter Snow stripped down to their pants to raise awareness of prostate cancer (Snows strip for cancer campaign.)
As 35,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year, and 10,000 lose their lives to this despicable disease, it's imperative that all men get prostate savvy - especially, it seems, when it comes to sex and masturbation.
A new study claims that men who have sex or masturbate more than 12 times a month in their twenties and thirties are far more likely to develop prostate cancer (Prostate Cancer linked to lots of sex) - a terrifying statistic, especially when I think of all the Male Sex Toys we sell here at LoveHoney.
Even more terrifying was the 'related link' that directed me to this article (More Sex In Credit Clinch), which states that men who ejaculate 5 times or more each week are much less likely to get a prostate tumor.
So, who's right? And, if you're a man under 40 and having sex or masturbating more than 12 times a month, which study should you believe?
The NHS Knowledge Service has complied a great article which gives the lowdown on the pros and cons of these latest finding (Masturbation and Prostate Cancer), complete with this summary that says it all:
"Men should not be overly concerned by this research. Sexual functioning is a normal part of healthy adult life. The causes of prostate cancer are not known for certain. Increasing age is the most established risk factor and more research is needed."
