LoveHoney.co.uk issues warning on unpackaged sex toys
Bath based online sex toy retailer LoveHoney.co.uk is warning people in the local area not to purchase unpackaged sex toys, following the theft of six large boxes of used sex toys from its premises.
The toys, which were being stored in a locked external container prior to being sent for recycling under the company's Rabbit Amnesty Sex Toy Recycling Scheme, were stolen at some point between Sunday 23 November and the morning of Monday 24 November 2008, and have an estimated retail value of £750. Avon and Somerset Police have been notified and are investigating the matter.
"If people are offered sex toys for sale that aren't in boxes, they should refuse them," says LoveHoney's head buyer Bonny Hall. "The toys are all clean, but were designated for recycling, certainly not for reuse!"
LoveHoney.co.uk launched its unique Rabbit Amnesty Recycling Scheme in August 2007, to provide sex toy users with a green and ethical way to dispose of their outdated or overloved toys. As well as doing their bit for the environment, LoveHoney.co.uk donates £1 to The World Land Trust (WLT) in support of the charity's tropical forest land purchase and protection projects for each returned toy and customers taking part are given the option to buy a new Rabbit vibrator at half price.
The second-hand toys are delivered to a Designated Collection Facility (DCF) where they are fully recycled and treated in an ecologically sound manner. To date, LoveHoney.co.uk has recycled 5 tonnes of used sex toys.
Anyone with information relating to the robbery or the whereabouts of the goods is being asked to call the police on 0845 456 7000.
