LoveHoney Survey Reveals Valentine Gift Secrets
Posted on: February 06, 2008 15:02 | Posted by: Ruth
Call me an old romantic, but I just love Valentine's Day. It's the one day of the year when the other half and I make an extra special effort to forget all the little niggles that come from living together and just enjoy each other's company.
And yes, I have to confess that Valentine's Day is made even better by the fact that there's a present involved!
Over the years I've been spoiled rotten with all the old favourites (perfume, choccie and flowers), but the Valentine gifts that I've had the most pleasure from have been luscious lingerie and lots and lots of lovely sex toys!
And our survey shows (oh, I've always wanted to say that), that more and more men and women are celebrating Valentine's Day by buying sexy gifts for their partners. Better yet, loads of them aren't just showing their love on 14 February, they're making love too (90% in fact!)

Happy Valentine's Day Darling. Now, Let's Make Love!
Survey reveals the UK is set for a love-in on 14 February
• 90% of UK couples plan to make love on Valentine's Day.
• 26% will make a special effort to have sex
• Lingerie and sex toys more popular Valentine gifts than perfume or jewellery.
90% of couples plan to make love on Valentine's Day according to a new survey of 3,000 couples by Internet lingerie and sex toy retailer LoveHoney.co.uk.
Out of 3,000 couples surveyed, an incredible 90% revealed that they are going to have sex on 14 February, with 66% determined to enjoy a passionate romp and another 24% planning to indulge if the mood takes them. A quarter of couples will be making a special effort to have sex especially because it is Valentine's Day.
Valentine's Day isn't enough to persuade everyone to head to the bedroom though. 10% will miss out either because they no longer have sex (4%), they won't be together on the day (5%), or because they simply won't be in the mood (1%).
Passion is the prime motive in people's gift choices, with 40% of women investing in sexy costumes and lingerie to tempt their partner and an additional 30% opting for sex toys. Men are most likely to buy their Valentine a box of chocolates (40%), but lingerie (37%) and sex toys (25%) complete the top three choices, beating traditional gifts such as jewellery (24%) and perfume (18%). Men and women are most likely to spend between £30 and £40 on a gift for their partners, but 24% of men and 16% of women are planning to spoil their lover in style by spending more than £75.
"With so many lovers across the country planning a night of unadulterated passion, Valentine's Day is going to be a real sizzler this year," says LoveHoney's head buyer Bonny Hall. "Along with our lingerie collection, gifts including the LoveHoney Valentine Gift Bundle, the iBuzz Two and the VibraExciter Mobile Phone Vibrator for Men have been flying off the shelves and chocolate lovers have been stocking up on our chocolate body paint too."
LoveHoney.co.uk has created an online Valentine Gift Finder featuring a range of presents to fuel both l'amour and lust. Orders for Valentine gifts can be placed right up to 4pm on Wednesday 13th February for guaranteed Valentine's Day delivery.
