    Hey,

I'm looking to get a first whip (or riding crop, or similar) but would rather, if possible, get one that isn't made of leather.

Are the other whips that are available as high quality? For example, there are a few faux leather, or rubber, or rope ones for sale on LH. Will they have the same sting? I imagine that non-leather whips will be softer and have a completely different feel to them.

I would be grateful for any help/advice!

    Thanks for your response!

That's very interesting; I would always have assumed that rubber had less impact than leather. A few of the reviews I've read say that the biggest let-down for non-leather whips is that they have less of a swiiiish noise, but that isn't really something that bothers me; it's more about the feeling.

I think that I'm primarily looking for a whip rather than a paddle, but I don't really have much knowledge about which is best. I'm guessing that the longer the tails, the more intense a sting it delivers!

    Hello,

Iknow that there are a few vegan/ veggie friendly bondage companies out there such as Fresh who make animal free products - I'm not sure if that's the reason why you are after a non-leather whip, but it's a good place to search. A lot of these companies are outside the UK.

Al;though, you should always make a DIY whip to get you started. You can find tutorials for these online =) Most use duct tape and cord, they are pretty quick to make.

It would be really cool if Lovehoney could do a vegetarian/vegan browsing catagory.

Thanks everybody! Yeah, it's mainly for ethical reasons that I'd rather not go for leather. I was planning to look at companies like Fresh if there was a massive difference between rubber etc and leather, but I'm a lot more reassured now that there isn't that much of a difference...

Does this company have a website? I was unable to find them through google, and am quite interested to find out more.

    Alex.
