Do you ever find yourself thinking that you have too many sex toys? Or find yourself drooling over sex toys that you think you don't need or wouldn't really use much after the "honeymoon" period?
Yes to both!
My wife and I have accumulated quite a few sex toys over the years. We've come a long way since I first ventured into one of those high street stores (not one near home, in case somebody recognised me!) and bought my wife her first vibrator. It was horrible and ugly by today's standards (despite being in the "luxury" range at the time), but it did the job okay and opened both our minds to the possibilities.
After that, I added regularly to our collection, sometimes in consultation with my wife, but mostly as whimsical surprises for her. Overall, I reckon that we've had an 80% success rate with the various toys (i.e. only 20% did little for either of us despite seeming like a good idea at the time of ordering) but there are very few that we keep returning to regularly -- our favourites.
I think one of the difficulties with toys for women in particular is that it's very difficult to predict how well they will work in practice. Even if they look okay in the photos, get positive reviews and include a myriad of clever features, there are still plenty of reasons why they might not suit an individual. If it looks unappealing, is difficult to hold or control, or just feels "wrong" during use, then it's unlikely to be a lasting success. For example, my wife has three different rabbit vibes, but she only really likes one of them. The second one has a single "tooth" rather than conventional rabbit ears, which she finds uncomfortable, and the third one has a control layout which my wife finds unintuitive (it's very annoying for her to hit the wrong button at the crucial moment!).
I suppose we should consider having a clear-out of toys that we don't really use. I've already had to find a couple of new places to hide them all safely away. I'm not sure that making space to accommodate more toys would necessarily be a good idea, though -- my imagination might run riot!
