Do you think you have too many sex toys?

Hello folks. I see that the two threads related to this already are closed. :-(

Anyway. I have just recieved this sex toy through the post for a friend. (she paid for it):

http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=12533

It looks nearly identical to my Ann Summers Promises vibrator (my first sex toy I ever got) and I love my promises. But looking at this 10 function version, it is slightly bigger, but much more flexable and the functions are a huge bonus, waiting for my friend to come round before I put batteries in and try out what the vibes feel like - she may think something is wrong with me if I do it before she arrives!!

I haven't been this excited about a sex toy in a long time! Which is a little weird since it is on the lower end of the price scale, has been sitting on the Lovehoney site for ages and ages and it is very similar to a vibe I already have, just a little bit different with pulses and patterns.

I have a lot of sex toys already, a fair few of which I hardly ever use anymore. I dare say that I might have too many, due to the fact of the ones I don't really use anymore.

But I wa-a-ant it!

Do you ever find yourself thinking that you have too many sex toys? Or find yourself drooling over sex toys that you think you don't need or wouldn't really use much after the "honeymoon" period?

I think I am in this situation at the moment. Perhaps just a sex toy clear out to make room for new ones would be fine though, yet it somehow feels like a waste to get rid of perfectly functioning sex toys.

Nah, I think once you find something you love you stick with it and if there are variations on the theme, of course you'll want to try.

Like me and my Lelo Mia. I love it, but I still wanted the We:Vibe Salsa, so I got that too. I don't use Salsa much at all... but still had to have it.

If something sucks I ditch it, but I like variety in my bedside drawer. There are things in there I don't use much, but I tend to alternate. Get bored with something, move onto something else. Its time will rock around again.

i sometimes think why have i kept this etc but then i use it and realise oh thats why :p

as long as you use them all at some point why get rid of them, tbh i dont really have that many, but i do try and use them all at least once a month we use certian items more than others of course.

however if you have a ridiculous amount that ur running out of room to store it then maybe put some up for the adopt a toy section, if you have something along the same price line, in your wish list you can get it swapped over.

IMO you can never have to many toys :D

xx

I put in the rules for the Adopt a toy thread and asking for something from your wishlist that is of similar price to the RRP of the toy is not what it is about. Just something small to cover the postage is what it is about, unless you have discussed and agreed the "payment" method with the person willing to adopt it.

Also, used toys are a no no.

I have a few that I don't think I will ever use, like Lusty Loops. I hate her, but I would miss her from my toy box if she were to go. Heh! It's the same with my broken wired bullet, it would look weird to open my toy box and not see it there. And my bullet vibe is so neglected I'd be suprised if it can remember how to vibrate! Also I have a few anal toys that would have to be binned. With my health, it seems highly unlikely now that I would ever use anal toys again as I get pretty ill if I do use them.

I suppose that would make a fair bit of space. And it would be the amnesty for the vibrators too.

But I think it is weird that I would actually miss them, despite them never getting used.

I suppose I could steralize the bullet as it is made of plastic and completely waterproof. I'll ask her if she is interested when she comes round. Though I wonder if that just makes me really weird!

Our first sex toy was the same model! Spiffy. I very rarely use mine anymore, though, something about the material irritates me a bit and I'm not a big fan of realistic vibes, even if they are covered in sparkles, haha.

As for the question, I'd say yes and no. I have a lot of playthings and probably around half of them get quite neglected (I have a couple I've only used about twice and then relegated to the 'naughty corner' for bad toys), but I still feel like there's a lot of toys I 'need' to buy, and I'd hate to get rid of almost any of my current babies. Even the ones I don't get on with, a couple I have for collectable sake (Hello Kitty and I Rub My Duckie Pirate, for example -- hate them in use, but so happy I own them), and I have a few where I'll get them back out after a year or two determined to try and get the damn thing to work for me (this generally is met with limited success, but it's always nice to break the monotony).
I usually try to avoid getting duplicates/near duplicates of anything I own, though. If I'm lusting after something, I have to ask myself, do I have something very like it already? If the answer is yes, then I'm not allowed to spend over £10 on it. £20 if I have something very like it that I enjoy but isn't quite right (this is why I'm still kicking myself for missing the Groovy Chick in the sale >.<).

I used to think I had too many, at one point in time I had three rampant rabbits, along with various other vibes. But when I discovered sex toy recycling could be done, it definitely gave me motivation to be out with the old and in with the new. Not that I threw out brand new toys - I wore them out first!! I didn't see any sense in keeping them if they didn't work. The first rampant rabbit I owned was the Thriller, [which was fan-f***ing-tastic!] and they don't make it anymore which is sad, but nevertheless I didn't want it taking up room in my cupboard, which is why I recycled it.

Now I have three different vibrators and two dildos. When you have too many toys, there can be too much choice and you may find some toys get more used than others, whereas if you just have a select few that you know you'll use and enjoy using, that's what's best for me. But whatever floats your boat really!

I think I do... simply because at the end of university year, I have to take the toys with me going back home. Well, my parents' home. So the more I have, the more awkward it is. I have an anal dildo, butt plug, Fleshlight, Cobra Libre, Tracy Cox Sensation Stroker and a clitoral vibrator (which I won't ever use again, I suppose). I should've got the Basics butt plug instead of the clitoral vibrator with my Oh! points, but I wanted to see how the vibrations feel before I buy the Cobra Libre.

Hmm we possibly have one two many at this stage, but I consider myself to enjoy excess quite a bit, so I'm sure we'll amass plenty more toys in the future. There are one or two things that we definitely want to get in the future, but with random Deal of the Days and Sales, I'm not going to put a definite limit on toys. Recycling a few might not be a bad idea now.

Ah.. I'm going to miss my basic butt plug. But I'm never going to use it again.

So I have sorted through them. My silicone butt plug and my basic butt plug are in the bin bag. Along with my double ended dildo which I discovered has some mildew on the bag it was stored in and got on the dildo. But obviously I wont need it as it has been left long enough for mouldy mildew to gather.

Lusty loops rabbit, broken bullet and a love egg is in a box ready to be sent to the amnesty next week.

Steralized the bullet and a glass vibrator that I only used once since getting it, for my friend. Asked her if she was interested or if she was put off by the thought, but she was fine with it. My OH brews his own beer so keeps steralizing stuff for his bottles. Used that and the toys seem perfectly fine from it. Steralized a clit clamp I can't used, cleaned the metal properly and looks better now than when I bought it! Lol! And some sachets and bottle of lubricants. A nice little goody bag for her.

Now it is quite cleared out. My box has space! Lovely! Can't bear to clear out my bondage drawer though... Though it is hardly ever opened, I still couldn't part with the lovely stuff in there.

I'm now only left in two minds about the Vulcan Fun Zone masturbator sleeve. My man wasn't that keen on it. Also the cock ring I got for 10p during the General Erection :-p Still never been used.

I do, I may have to move in few months and I am bit worried how much space my sex toy collection would take. I may as well worry about how I am ever going to move my lego collection too

There are few toys in there I dont use, I havent used the Lady Lustfinger for months, but it was my first vibrator and as it is still working I would not throw it away. I dont have the heart. I may send few toys to the amnesty in some time, when I have larger collection of those I want to dispose of. Some I dont like. I dont buy many toys now, I am bit more choosey.

I try to use most of the toys in my collection, but it does depend on my mood and what I want. Some toys can stay in the hidding for month before getting a use, some, like Mia and Siri never get into my toy storage.

The embarrassing thing is that I did a clear out of sex toys, and sent some to amnesty just over a year ago, I think!

Embarrassing that I have accumulated so many so quickly. I'd be embarrased with anything that I keep needing to clear out so frequently. (Nothing to do with them being sex toys, really.)

I'm now down to 17 actual sex toys (excluding bondage, lube etc.) including my mans toys and the cock ring. Some may still say this is excessive, and maybe it is, but I think most of them will get their moment at some time or another.

I just hope I don't get a shock at my collection overflowing again and need another clear out in another years time! My friend called me a sex toy hoarder, she may well be right!

I am in similar situation to ghostgirl lol. I accumulated so many quickly, but now I am bit more slowing down, I just get what I dont have in my box yet. I have several bullets so I dont see reason why to get another, unless my Lelo Mia breaks and it will be replacement for it. There are few toys I would really love like to get, but I will wait for some special occassion as they are expensive. I do want few glass dildos, as they are textured and I would like to experiment with that and I only have one textured in my collection so far.

Nah not really. I have a lot, undeniably, but there's often something new for me to get excited about mostly as I have a varied interest in a fair few specialist things and sub categories, and am into the kinkier stuff too so it probably gives me more variety.

Plus, things like just recently I invested in my first ever strapon harness and some strapon friendly, silicone dildos to go in it - just hoping I get a chance to use them soon!
