I have had the same problem with hiding stuff from my parents, but when I first went off to uni I bought one of those metal fireproof lock boxes and just told my parents that it was to keep my cheque book and all other valuables I didnt have on me. Needless to say, it doesn't even have my cheque book in it, never mind anything else. It is exclusively my 'toy box' and keep it under my bed, but I keep the key in the little zip pocket in the bag I take to work everyday.

It's always quite funny when I catch my mum 'cleaning' under my bed and she just moves it out the way, oblivious to the 'valuables' inside

When I was about 14 I got some condoms from the doctor (god knows why, I never used them!) and thought a fantastic place to hide them was in a box behind the drawers in my bed - so, sort of sitting on the lining behind the drawer. I went away for a few days and when I came back my dad had carpeted my room and when I looked in the drawer, there was the box sitting in the drawer where I had most definitely NOT left it, lol. He never said anything, but I was mortified!

Another one of note was when I was about the same age and a little obsessed with sex. I 'borrowed' one of my dad's porn mags because I used to really get off on the stories in them. One day, it was gone. It has to have been my mum but, again, she never said a word.

Am I the only seriously paranoid person here? The world isn't quite yet ready for straight male anal play. :<

I modified the table so that all the drawers are a good 5 inches shorter. Then I attached a few shelves to the backplate and hey presto, a secret compartment. If anyone wants to recreate this dont forget to put an inch high edge ledge at the end of the shelf so that your toys dont fall down if someone decides to move the table. If you're really inventive you could probably fit a metal door in front of the shelves too. But then you would have to remove all the drawers to open the door. And create grooves in the door so that it slides past the runners.

Yes, this is a sneak peak into my paranoid mind. ^.-

That is seriously paranoid Vanquish. My parents found mine a couple weeks back when i accidently left them out after some play time. They didn't say anything, just wrapped them in a towel and put them in my room.lol. Never mentioned it, so they obv aren't bothered.

Won't most people's parents do the same?

They're not completely whack, I mean, If they found a dong or a buttplug in my sisters room they probably wouldnt care. They'd look at her sideways for a while but that's it. But if they found one of those in my room, I'd be a closet gay, for life probably. Maybe could have a conversation and present my arguments [anything between a guy and a woman isn't gay by definition], but I say no thanks to that conversation.

    I'm 22. ;)

I was expecting you to say younger than that actually.lol. I'm (just) 22 too, and i just look at it as that i'm an adult and they treat me as such. They know i'm straight, so i'm not too concerned about them finding things and thinking i'm gay. But to be perfectly honest, if they think it's weird and unnatural for you to want to explore and enjoy your own body, then that's their problem not yours.

Sadly, they don't treat me in such a way. Well, not when it comes to this. I've got a job and everything, yet still. Thinking about the hypothetical situation now... They would treat me as an adult -> BAM, DEATH SENTENCE! :D

Sorry to hear that you have to be so careful Vanquish! I know how you feel though - I used to go through the same thing when I lived at home with my parents and had a few sex toys (like an anal vibrator for instance, and a realistic dildo) I had to be careful when I was at Uni and living in digs for a while too. I found the best thing was a large ex army steel ammo box. I locked it and just let it be known that it was full of my personal stuff that I didn't want getting knicked by burglars. I never specified what "personal" meant, and nobody asked. Why don't you try the same thing, and see what happens? Just keep old books and letters in in to start with. If your parents ask you what's in it, draw a line in the sand by gently reminding them (in a humerous way) that you're 22 now, and for them not to worry, it doesn't contain any dead bodies! After a while, when you feel safe about the concept, you could start putting a sex toy or two inside it, and go from there.

Any box left in the open, locked or not wouldn't work. Sooner or later someone would pose the question what "personal" is. It would be too big for a passport and other documents. And the more I'd try to wiggle my way out of that conversation the more they would pry. In the end they would probably start thinking I have drugs in there. Like I said, hellish situation.

Yeah, but that's the point - you'd be using the box to establish a boundary. As an adult, you're entitled to privacy are you not? The answer to what "personal" means is in the word itself. No need for discussion. You may find that the attitude of your parents changes and they respect you if you stand up for your adult rights. They probably still think of you as their kid. I've found myself that in life people treat you the way YOU expect to be treated. Act and feel like you deserve personal space and you'll get it. That's why some people are good leaders - they act like they're in charge, they feel they ought to be, and people just go along with that.

If you're worried about it what I'd do myself is fill the box with boring normal stuff for a couple of months, then accidentally "forget" to lock / close it, thus allowing your parents to "discover" that the contents are in fact boring. Do that a couple of times and they'll give up being interested. Then you ditch the crap and stick the toys in there.

Or plan b - move out and get your own place. Good luck in any case!

I used to have one of those cash boxes to keep all my different lubes and condoms in. Unfortunately, once I got my first vibrator it hit the limit of how much stuff it could hold! I now have one of those DIY toolboxes I managed to pick up in Wilkinsons for £4, which does the job perfect (had to buy a padlock, but other than that it's just about perfect.

Told my Mum I keep my sewing stuff in there lol. It's just about believable, but luckily she's kinda naive, she'd never suspect I'm keeping sex toys in there!

We all know that personal space should be respected, but sex toys are just one of them things where you just want to play it safe and dont want to raise any suspicion.

I had the dilemma of knowing where to hide my toybox recently, and found a really good solution. It's still a risk because if it's in the same house as your parents, they might find it somehow, but I hid mine in my bed!

My bed has pull out storage drawers, but I pulled a drawer all the way out, and there was a wooden beam in the bed and I've put the box on there and put the drawer back in. So the toybox is kept within the bed totally out of site...and I think the only way i could realistically get caught, is if they for some reason tried to change the whole bed and felt something moving inside!

Hope this helps anyone still trying to find a good hiding spot! x

I recently moved house and had a... err... bit of an incident! Lets just say my mother now knows what a Clone-A-Willy is!

My reccomendation would be to do the following:

    - Get a good friend to look after your naughty things whilst you move.
    - Pack your sex toys in your handbags, in a box - when they open it up to discover its just all your bags and purses, they won't bother to root through!
    - Pack them in a box in wrapping paper - if they think it's a gift for a friend, they definitely won't open it!

Wish I had thought of all that before my mum came downstairs with a box full of sex toys shouting "GUESS WHAT I JUST FOUND!?"

Haha oh dear when i moved house i just put any toys hidden well in with my clothes anyone that opened the bag just saw clothes and thought no more of it
