Has anyone had a issue with the king cock of changing colour?

    We own this king cock

    http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=34171

We went to have a play with it and it has changed colour to orange.

With it changing colour is it still safe to play with?

I personally wouldn't use anything that changed in appearance, particularly if the toy is porous. It could be because of being stored with other toys or a chemical break down in the material.

I have one like this in brown and its not changed colour, I did however have a pink one that did change colour after a few uses so I purchased a new one in brown and its been ok, I do check each toy before use and its been ok since. I also store them in exactly the same way and no issues so it must have been some break down or reaction as Natandtom suggests.

I have 2 from this range and use them often. I've not noticed a change in colour. Can't think of why it may have changed colour. Maybe give it a thorough clean and leave it to air dry. ?

Do you use the renewer powder on it? I do on mine and wouldn't be without it

It has always been kept in the packaging that it arrived in so maybe it is a break down in chemicals. I try to give it a wash and see what happens. I never have used renewal powder on the king cock.

Ah. That could be why then. I never keep it in the packaging after use. I threw the packaging away and use the storage bags from LH. Invest in the LH toy cleaner & renewer powder, I recommend it 👍

Never thought of not keeping it in the packaging. I've use either sex toy cleaner or soap and water. I use talcum powder instead of renewal powder on the thrust range of male toys never considered using it on the king cock before.

    Hi bondagegod,

Definitely take a look at our 'Caring for Sex Toys' guide:

    http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/blog/2011/05/05/sex-toy-guide-caring-for-your-realistic-sex-toys/

Towards the bottom, there is this piece of advice:

'7. Do not use talcum powder. Similarly to recent research suggesting that phthalates may cause cancer, talc has also been cited as another possible cause. While research remains ongoing, it is strongly recommend to avoid using talc on intimate toys.'

Although this does not necessarily explain your magical colour-changing dildo, talc is not advised! Instead of using talc, it is best to use a purpose-made renewal powder, not just for the longevity of the toy, but for your safety.

    Hope this helps!

    Emkapa

    Hi Emkapa.

Thank you for the information on using talcum powder on sex toys.

Never would have thought talcum powder is not suitable to use on sex toys.

As Emkapa said - be sure to never use talc on any of your sex toys. Always use cornstarch.

And yes, it's best not to keep it in its packaging as that plastic can deteriorate and create a chemical reaction.

A regular sex toy bag is best :)

Ok I will go have a look at your review.

Don't suppose you know if thrust range items are ok in the packaging they come in or are the best stored in bags?
