Hi, I tried a cock ring rabbit on my lover the other night for the first time. Within seconds there was a little swelling at the base of his penis, on the under side. He couldn't see it because it was under neath the rabbit, but I was shocked & took it off him immediately. I thought it was going to cause a blood clot & we'd end up in A & E!

He's got a very big cock & if we use condoms they have to be extra large!

Otherwise he said it was comfortable, in fact he seemed pleasantly surprised & a bit disappointed to take it off. So we didn't even get to try out what it can do for me :-(

Anyone with experience of cock rings can give me some advice? Can they cause a blood clot?

I'm in the same boat as you, my OH has a rather big thick cock, and we're not sure which cock rings to use because of it.

I'd love any advice too :)

I haven't seen it so I can't be sure, but sounds like a bulging vein, which is fairly normal, his veins will bulge as they're holding more blood. What ring were you using and what circumference is he? I'd suggest trying again and looking out for a purple discolouration, it will be naturally darker but if it's a strange purple or blue colour. Or if it's cold to the touch, and obviously if it's hurting him

I don't believe they can cause a blood clot but you shouldn't wear it for longer than half am hour even if it's comfortable

If it was comfortable for him then it's causing no damage at all. It will make the penis swell or look a little odd, it's being constricted after all! Never heard of a blood clot happening from a cock ring, compressing a vein won't make blood clot inside it or else blood clots would happen a lot more often.

Try again and if he isn't in pain, you're good to go! :)

We were having trouble with cock rings being incredibly uncomfortable and turning him purple in less than a minute. His penis is 5.75" in girth (circumference) so above average but not huge. We got these http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=15984 and the large is perfect. The medium is also comfortable for about 10 minutes. Look out for large or extra large cock rings, or get one of the adjustable ones.

I've found this http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=2589 to be the best fitting and most comfortable ring I ever used.

Even when it really tight it's comfortable.

Finding the right size can be tricky, but listen to your body it will tell you if its too small, ie. hurts after a short time, my personal choice is a metal one 42mm internal dia, goes behind your balls, I can wear it for long times without problems, I've also one thats slightly smaller but only just that feels great but cannot wear for more than 30 mins, you'll be suprised how only a few mm's difference makes.

An adjustable one would be useful, one size fits all, you can have it as tight as you want

"Constrictor devices" (Cock rings) as well as vigorous sexual activity can cause penile thrombosis, however it would probably be to a predisposition to the condition. As people have said, make sure that it is not painful (which can be hard to tell in a sexual scenario) and don't leave it on too long.
If bulging veins do appear and stay long after removal of the ring, then I would consider seing a doctor as you may have caught something early on and may be prescribed blood thinners or other drugs.
The penis is designed to trap blood however and with the added constrictor this can be normal. If once removed the bulge goes straight away I would, not worry unless it looks overly big or again, is painful.

Obviously we can't be sure (not having seen the bulging) but I do know that cock rings can change the appearance of a mans penis within seconds. All the veins bulge out and turn the colour an angry looking red/purple. Could it be that this happened and the changes shocked you? (I just wonder because you say this bulge happened almost immediately)

Well, the best advice I can give you is this: Go type into your search engine, something like "Penis with a cock ring on" and click on images (you might want to add the word "porn" to your search, for more explicit images). Take a look at the images and see if they look similar to what happened to your partner. You will see lots of bulging veins and such.

If this bulge was very located, darker in colour than the surrounding area, or appears like a blood clot, or any other indication like this, then it sounds a little more worrying.

Also, avoid leaving a cock ring on the penis for more than approx 15 minutes (This seems to be the most standard advice I stumble across). Yes, some men do wear them much longer, but it can be a little more risky to do so (especially with very tight rings). I would personally remove any ring when the guy complains of discomfort too.

    Hope this helps.

A little swelling is normal but if it doesn't look normal or is just in one area I would stop use.

I can really recommend this though http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=28652 as it is adjustable to comfort and works wonders. Hope you get it sorted x

    yes

This is the best cock ring I could suggest for a larger penis. It is fully adjustable which makes for a more comfortable - personalised fit, but still gives the intended purpose of a cock ring.

Also at Lovehoney if you do not like anything you buy and try - you have up to a year to return it for an exchange or refund!

Thanks all! I'm going to look at some pics for comparison now. I think his cock looked like they should do with a ring on, it's just that I hadn't seen one used before. Also I didn't realise it should only be on 15 30 mins!!! We're at it for hours!!

I'll try the links for the products people have recommended too :-)

The one I used is a white, AS rampant rabbit cock ring. It wasn't tight & he said it felt ok. It is nice & soft & I can stretch it almost enought to put on my wrist, so it's nice & flexible....
