Arse tattoos REALLY hurt!

It's a very sensitive area with lots of nerve endings in it so whether it's the brush of a feather or the sting of a tattoo needle (or several in my case - ten needle widespread magnum for shading, ouch!) you're really going to feel it!

It's also an "unexposed" area (unless you're a nudist) so unlike the arms where they'll get a bit of a bashing, be exposed to sunlight and all sorts of other environmental and personal things it's not really used to anything quite as harsh as that.

That being said, it's a good place to get a tattoo as it's easily hidden and you won't be tempted to scratch or pick at it unless you want to look like you have worms!

i think tats are more of a burning sensation, it hurts to begin with but then you go numb, it also hurts on the ankle as its hitting bone, there is nothing really there to cushion it

Good lord Naughty40! I don't have a tattoo on my actual anus (holy mother of god ouch!) - mine just runs from my lower back down onto my buttocks!

I don't think I could bare to get that done... nor do I think it's possible but is anyone up for having a go and reporting back?

What I mean with my previous post is that most people wear underwear and outerwear for a good majority of the day so where as your lower arms will rest on desks, arms of chairs,  get knocked when you're carrying stuff, be exposed to the elements, etc. your buttocks don't get that! They're nicely covered up and don't really get exposed for 16 hours at a time to everything and anything so are more sensitive.

Yes Naughty40, I think Carly was talking about a tattoo on the buttocks.  I've got one on my left buttock and it hurt to get it done more than I thought it would.  Mostly a kind of burn-y sensation.

The great thing about tattoos vs piercings, is that tattoos stop hurting immediately, as soon as the needle stops and the tattoo artist is done, that's it, no more pain.  Piercings can hurt for ages afterwards - I got the cartilage of my ear done and that didn't really feel better til after a couple of months had elapsed.

I think the pain levels really have to do with the skill of the artist and what you're getting done.  The tattoo I have with the most shading hurt the most (on my upper arm), and the ones with less hurt less (shoulder blade and buttock).

Carly, I'd love to see your ink, have you got any images of your body art?  :)

I agree, my back piece has loads of shading and hurt like hell, especially on the buttocks and over the kidneys! My wrists, ankle and stomach however are mainly just dark lines and minimal shading and didn't hurt even half as much.

You do get to a stage where your adrenaline and endorphins take over (just like during an orgasm ) and you feel quite light headed, giggly and elated. That's usually around the 30 minutes to 1 hour mark.

Word of advice, break your tattoo sessions up if you're getting  a big piece. My back took 6 hours in total, two sessions of 3 hours each and by the end of each session I really couldn't take anymore! I just went home and led face first on the bed!
