    Hiya .

So looking for some advice to help him get and maintain an erection .

A few years ago he was prescribed anti-depressants to use as a pain blocker , sadly they destroyed his erections . The Drs never listened to him when he brought up the erection problem . He stopped taking his pills so he could have sex without it taking forever to get hard and actually stay hard the full sex session .

That was 2 years ago and then finally march '14 a Dr listened and gave him tadalafil/cialis i think theyre called. Only problem theyre only willing to prescribe 8 per 4 weeks , that cant be right theres nothing online to back up this restriction . They worked he could get hard enough to perform it kept it hard enough till he came .

Now we need an alternative helper , only thing is he's tried many cock rings and wasted more money on pumps and lotions . None have worked and we just cant afford to waste money on things that claim to work but dont.

I know what works for one wont always work for another but theres got to be something reasonably priced that has a high success rate .

Was looking in the LH store but reviews didn't seem to address ED so need your help before buying .

I have a friend with the same issue, and he has been prescribed 1 for each day, at first they only prescribed him the same ammount of 8 per 4 weeks, this is too see if there if it has an effect, like a reaction etc.

Without buying anymore products their are other ways to solve this problem, he may want to speak to his doctor about this problem and ask if he can trial different types of anti-depressants that would possible not incure this problem.

There are many products out there to help yes, but not all of them work for everyone. The issue is if he is not comfortable with cock rings or pumps they are not likely to work.
Although if he is comfortable to try new things there are other toys that can help.

Obviously you have your penis pumps, and your cock rings, but there are other things such as:

Constriction; by citting of part of the circulation the the penis, it keeps the blood running through the muscles, hence keeping the erection. This can be done by cock rings, or other devices like constriction sleaves.

    http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=29744

Prostate Massager; If he is comfortable you could use something to massage the prostate, their is a nerve in a mans prostate that can help to stimulate the penis and can possibley help maintain an erection. For example an anal plug, or a vibrating anal plug. If you are both comfortable with this, the stimulation should help to keep an erection.

I hope my advice has helped you, i can't garentee that this will work, but these are the ways that my friend solved his issue.

Unfortunately no....there isnt. Not for severe ED issues.

This is our experience anyway. So, there are tools that can help get him an erection without too much issue (penis pumps) and there are tools designed to help trap the blood inside the penis when erection is achieved (cock rings) but the reality is that these tools will only help keep the erection for a very short time

Some guys will say "not true" but I put the question to them "Were they aroused at the time of using and do they normally have erection issues" If you use a cock ring, for example, on a penis that usually stays erect when aroused, then the cock ring is not actually helping you HAVE an erection, rather it helps make your current erection stronger and harder.

If the blood is just not flowing into the penis in the first place...or not staying in the penis, then cock rings and pumps can only do so much. They can only help to initiate and make the current erection stronger.

Cock rings will make an erection last slightly longer. But I ask any man who is wearing a cock ring..."After your orgasm, did the erection stay until you took the ring off - literally for half an hour or so after orgasm?" usually the answer is no, because you can lose an erection while wearing a cock ring. If your body stops sending the signals to the penis, the blood will flow out eventually if you are completely satisfied or completely unaroused or, in this case, have issues maintaining it in the first place. The blood will flow out slower...but within minutes, the erection may still be lost.

Unfortunately I do not know of any foolproof, guaranteed sex toys or sex tools that can give a man an erection and ensure he does not lose it. I think if this existed, someone would be extremely rich! :D I honestly think that the best thing you can do in your case is to use the pills from the doctor. As you have already mentioned yourself, most rings and pumps can only help to a limited extent if the problem is severe.

That's my personal opinion anyway, but I have some other advice:

Can his doctor not prescribe a different medication? I understand the issue with anti-depressant meds. As a female, they stopped me being able to orgasm, for almost a year. As soon as I stopped them, it came back! From what I understand though, there are now different medications and different types of anti depressant that do not have the same side effects with erection and loss of orgasm etc. Would it be worth seeing another, more sympathetic doc and asking to try different meds to find one that will help with pain but also not cause his erection issues?

May I also suggest trying vibrations? This is often overlooked for males, but When I struggled to orgasm, I could not get anywhere from manual stimulation, but powerful vibrators could occasionally work for me. Maybe ramping up the intensity of the stimulation he is used to, will help him "feel" more of that stimulation and it could really help him get somewhere. Its worth a thought. There are a few male vibrators available these days, but you could even try something like a Magic Wand.

    Hope that helps. xx

Hi Louise, sorry to hear. This is such a toughy it's obviously the meds. As fluffbags has posted there is little in the way of help. You could try some of the stay hard sprays here on love honey I will try and post a link after this post. cialis good but very expensive. I at 50 have had the odd issue but mine was stress related with my job, which can be very stressful. I did try Cialis it worked fine for me but to expensive to keep using long term. Luckily I didn't need too. There can be many other contributing fracture which are life style . Smoking, drinking, weight and stress all don't help. General health and fitness too.

Good luck sorry not much help.

It can take months to come off them, also meds have to taken my hubby has his, it's affected him sexually but I'd rather have him alive than in mental and physical hell which is what happens if he doesn't take his meds.. I manage because that's how it is with toys ect.

I've had bouts of ED during physical illnesses and depression and I think you both have to adjust your expectations - principally, that if you both get off at the same time it's a bloody big bonus and not the ordinary turn of events.

When I had an indwelling catheter for several months we did various things to avoid the need for penetrativr sex, and I was able to get Mrs P. off and even myself, but not at the same time! (don't believe anybody who says you can't wank with a catheter in - plenty of lube and Bob's your uncle).

My personal favourite is to use a strapon, though Mrs P blows hot and cold on this. Given that you're going to be able to do a proper job with no possibility of going soft on your partner (and the possibility is sometimes enough to make me lose it), not having your own penis in there is not as big a drawback as I thought it would be. There again, I've always loved making my woman come, so ... .

Anyway, talking it over and being willing to try approaches other than sticking it in till somebody comes is what we did.

Hi Louise1981 If they prescribed Cialis also known as 'the weekender' it will stay in the body for about 48 hours, that equates to about 16 days in the bloodstream out of 28 days. Probably why they won't let him have more.

I would of thought that good old Viagra/Sildenafil would be a better alternative as this dosn't stay in the blood for long, and it's cheaper.

Can he see another Doc at the practice?

    Hope this helps

You know you can order these online, right?

Websites such as Dr Fox will carry out an online consultation and then based on that issue a prescription.

It's about £30 for 16 100mg generic viagra - sildenafil (including delivery). You would usually split a 100mg tab so would get 32 doses for £30. - less than a coffee a day. Have you tried viagara/silenafil? They're effective and cheaper than cialis.

Doctors will usually only prescibe a short amount of a first visit usually because they need to see if the medication has any negative side effects. Also it may be to minimise drug interactions, so like if he is taking other medication along side that one

Not harsh, just stupid. It takes ages to come off an anti-depressant, stopping suddenly can actually kill!

OP, it is worth talking to GPas this is an issue that can cause depressive conditions to worsen for the taker.

sildenafil was trialed before the cialis and didn't work for him .

The dr did many repeat prescriptions of the cialis since the only supplied 4 per time .

So every 3rd day he'd get a repeat of 4 then he asked for more to save running around every 3rd day .

So the whole of March/April he was on cialis ,1 pill left he called again the Dr Wouldn't issue the prescription .Stating now he can only get 8 per month :/

He has a drs appointment end of May but Thats the whole of May he hasn't been able to fully erect

He stopped taking them right away and hasn't touched them in 2 years .

They were prescribed for pain relief and muscle spasms but he suffers them because he didn't want anything to destroy his erections .

As soon as they did suffer he stopped thinking they would come back but the damage was done.

prostate massage and butt plugs dont help him erect .

I could peg him with my 6.5" dildo deep and hard , yes he'll have a Pgasmsometimes multiple but he wont get hard.

Where before sticking anything near his ass would make him harder than steel before its fully in.

He used to get erect at the slightest thing , he was always ready Whenever it was needed and could stay that way for hours of use.Now though its a totally different cock :´(
