If she is getting UTI's every time after you have sex she really needs to push her GP and get it investigated and refered to the hospital. How many UTI's are we talking?

I have one nearly every month ( i do everything from shower after, wee before/after, to scrub everything we use) and end up with an emergancy stash of anti-biotics (prehaps this is something to consider? usually i take one after sex and if symtoms persist then the full course).

They've recently started turning into kidney infections so im seeing a specialist but she really needs to push her doctor on this as its not right.

The local oestrogen a are not absorbed into the blood stream, so the cancer risk is very low. It's the atrophy which is causing the UTIs, so that's what needs treating. Have a look on the menapause matters website, you will find a lot of information there

Blackcherry: Thanks for your comments. She's had two in quick succession but quite a few before but rather more spaced out. It's the heavy use of antibiotics that would put her off, she has a pharmacy qualification and knows more than most about the dangers of this. The fact that you are now having kidney infections would just confirm her view. She went to the doctor's today and got another lot of antibiotics to treat this latest bout. She won't risk sex again as she doesn't want to become reliant on antibiotics... so that's that. I respect what she says but it doesn't make me happy.

50 plus: The fact that there is a cancer risk no matter how small means that this would be off the agenda for her too.

Chris, what about doggy style sex? UTI's happen when the urithra is squashed and pushed when having sex, but from behind, that wouldn't happen.
