About same time as me when shaving then. Although I don't itch. Wax re-growth itches sometimes.

I like the ease of shaving, but the regrowth is a pain in the obvious. My hair seems to grow very fast and I end up with about 36 hours of absolute smoothness and then the regrowth seems to kick in.

I've never waxed- you say that you get about 2 weeks of smoothness, does your hair grow quickly? Do you notice a difference in the hair when it grows back after a while?

I found Veet ok. Well it didn't hurt too much... wasn't very effective and left only bits bald.

I got a chemical burn and it stung for ages so would rather shave any day over a cream.

Yup the burn was the most it done. Hair just melted to a point and was left with stubble and skin too sensitive to fix it.

It's certainly not that bad! Especially if you pop an aspirin an hr before.

I was wondering where you'd pop the aspirin for a while...

Nexas, seriously I bet it'd be a lot less painful to wax your scrotum than Veet it. Seriously.

A lot less smelly and alot less messy too xxx

It's embarassing to admit but I use Veet on the fine hair around my belly button As it isn't a lot of hair and on a small area it works well but I wouldn't reccomnend it for the sensitive pubic area and it struggles to remove thicker hairs like on legs.

And yes the smell isn't very nice... I have to bath straight away after to get rid of it, using a wet cloth doesn't work.

I used to use a cream on my pubic hair 'cause shaving was a nightmare before I learnt the trick to preventing the nightmare regrowth and it's not effective. Stinks, you have to be *very* careful (chemicals and clits don't mix!) and it doesn't take enough off.

And don't worry about that - I used to wax my girly snail trail - it's the finest blonde hair around and I actually love it now but for some reason I used to hate it!

I think it MUST be better to have a wax done by someone else rather than a DIY job. I would imagine that the anticipation of the pain would be worse and if someone else does it you don't really have a choice but to see it through to the end. Plus, you're never sure exactly when the moment of pain is to come.

I said before that as a hairy fan, reading this thread depressed me.

BUT, now I've read so much about time- consuming, abrasive, skin irritating, painful and (no doubt) expensive treatments to remove hair - not to mention the re-growth period - I'm very happy that I don't have to worry about any of this!

Tbf, once you figure out you need to exfoliate before and after shaving and shave with the grain, then it's not too painful and shaving is less time consuming than other methods.

Why does it depress you exactly? You're a hairy fan...personally, I dislike that. Doesn't mean if you posted a thread about women going au naturale that I'd be depressed by it...

The depressing part is the implications that go along with shaving, why women do it, the social pressures on women (conscious or not) - once you get into the thoughts of the pernicious effects of porn on the grooming industry there is little choice but to be depressed.

Not that much depressing about some natural hair. Unless it's ingrowing of course.

But that's saying that porn IS what gets women shaving like that. There have been several people merely in this thread who have said they did it for themselves. And to be honest, even if porn was the reason a woman FIRST did it or her partner asked her to do it due to seeing it in porn...how many women keep themselves cleanshaven/waxed just because they like it? I know several women who aren't in relationships and don't plan on having anything sexual happening anytime soon that still get rid of it all.

If it's personal preference, why is it that porn has to have anything to do with it?

The same goes for men shaving, many men on these forums shave their pubic region, why is this held to women only?

I think porn does have a big influence on many people... but the LH forum's aren't the greatest place to find people sensitive to 'porno pressure'!

Being on these forums means many of us are quite independently minded! No doubt there are some people shaving to live up to some social standards but I do also agree many simply choose it out of personal preference.
