We're currently travelling as part of our wedding / honeymoon. Don't get me (us) wrong, it's been fantastic. However, the way we've decided to do it (on the extreme cheap) means that daily life whilst fun is far from comfortable and with little in the way of luxury.

We've done a trip like this before and it was amazing but the one thing we both missed was our sex life which suffers a LOT.

Soon this trip is to be over and somehow we'll both still have a week off to use before Christmas. We were wondering about treating ourselves to a 'Budget Honeymoon' so we can enjoy each other in the way a honeymoon is intended before getting stuck back into the daily grind (of work).

Does anyone have any good suggestions for where we should look at going? Groupon deals seem like they may offer somewhere suitable but we've never used one for a holiday. Comfort and some warmth wouldn't go amiss.

I don't have any specific ideas, but beware group getaway deals, I have not heard positive things

Are you thinking about a beachy type holiday or more of a city break?

It really doesn't matter as long as its nice and relaxed.

We've always fancied Bruges as a city destination. Beach holidays aren't typically our thing but we've had quite our fill of 'our thing' over the past few months.

Bruges is nice we did it on an overnight ferry from Hull, also Amsterdam is alovely city and taking an overnight ferry is cool only 100 yards from resteraunt to Bar to bed lol

Well, not really the honeymoon intended or even the best place for being at all intimate, however, we've booked Marrakesh for a week on a last minute deal.

    Tips / suggestions always welcome.

You are a little bit late for a December getaway, did see ads for Malta at £70 one way with BA so that would be £280 return for the two of you, and that will be lovely and warm. It depends on what your budget is - check with everyone - and if you are available to go with short notice, you can pick up some bargains. Just come back from the Canaries and that was lovely - but it's high season there now - so just try to get something asap.

    Good luck x

    Great place!

    - Totally immerse yourself and don't spend any time in the hotel

    - Everything can be haggled for. You won't get the best price until you're about to walk out, but always bargain with a smile

    - If someone puts a snake on you/they put on a street show that you watch or something like that, they will expect to get paid

    - The souk/medina is less hassle than outside and is massive. You will get lost, but just wander and then work out where you are when you get out

    - Head up into the Atlas Mountains and maybe over to Taroudant

    - If you want to go to the sea Essaouira is nice, Agadir is a bit odd

    - If you head to the coast look out for goats climbing trees on the way. It's bizarre

    - Go to the Jemaa el Fna at night

    - The Yves Saint Lorent garden is a calm oasis from all the craziness (called Marjorelle gardens or similar)

If you like this sort of place then you'll love it, but it is very different from European culture

Thanks... We just got back and had a great time. Maybe we were there one day too many as the constant haggling got the better of us yesterday. However for the majority it was great.

The riad/hotel was oppulent, especially at the bottom end price and I don't think we had a bad meal anywhere!

One thing we noticed (after the fact) was that the Moroccan ginseng drink they serve in Jemma el Fna (its like spiced tea but apparently contains no tea). Had a profound effect on our sex. They kept telling us through the week that they had 'Morroccan Viagra' for sale which I laughed off with hand gestures showing at 28, we had little need for such a substance but we worked out that the nights I'd consumed this tea.. well, things went on for a LONG time (another hotel bed meets an early grave).
