    Hello lovehoneyers!

    So this is weird. I used to have hardly any gag reflex but for the last couple months its been so sensitive and well, I just feel like I won't be give as good blowjobs as I have been able to! Luckily my man is away so I can hopefully fix this before he comes back haha and he'll never know.

    I was wondering if anyone had ever had this happen?

    And also, if people had tips on how to desensitise/train your gag reflex? FIX ME! lol

    A few things I can think of:

    1) When your thinking about it, it does make it worse. Have you ever noticed when brushing your teeth and tongue that most of the time its all okay but when you have the gag reflex on your mind it seems to trigger it into heightened state of awareness? Same with swallowing pills and people who gag at swallowing tiny pills yet probably swallow larger chunks of food without a second thought. I have noticed that when I am thinking about it (During oral or teeth brushing) it kicks in more. Maybe because we tense up and this tightens our throat or maybe the brain is now just more aware of stuff hitting our throat and waiting for it, ready to trigger. Either way, pushing the thoughts away, if you can, will help with this part.

    2) Breathing and relaxing. This kind of goes hand in hand with number one. When it is on your mind you are not relaxed and you start holding your breathe. Breathing in and out through your nose helps. I had to get a camera down my throat a few years ago and I remember gagging a lot. I also remember the doctor repeatedly asking me to breathe through my nose. If the doc recommends it.... lol

    3) Practise. You can learn to suppress the gag reflex through practise and focus and relaxing etc.

    To be honest, I think the only problem is that you have it on your mind and are more tense about it. If you used to have no problem. I am also inclined to say that your blowjobs are not broken or crap if you can't take him all the way. Not many people can do the whole deep throat thing (Hell, even porn stars gag when it is pushed right back there) and I don't think your blowjobs will be lacking just because you can't go as deep. Using your hands at the base and mouth and tongue all around the tip down his most senstive parts will still be great for him, but I think your hyperactive gag reflex will calm down again when it isn't on your mind so much xxx. :D

    Hi there,

    I had the same problem too when I first started. To help me practice, when ever I brushed my teeth at night I'd hold my tooth brush down the back of my throat, only a little bit at first, but then gradually I was able to hold it further and further back. Not the most attractive of ideas I know, but it does work at taming your gag reflex, and I found I panicked less as I knew I was able to remove the tooth brush whenever I wanted, so it gave me control.

    Another thing I can suggest is when the time comes don't let him hold your head. The first time my partner did that I panicked and that triggered my gag reflex. Some partners don't and some just do it because they want to hold you, but I found that for the first few times I did panic slightly.

    If all else fails use your hands as well as your mouth and move them all at the same time. It'll feel to him like you're taking him all in when, in reality, your not! Little trick my friend told me there. He gets the sensation of you being all over him, without you having to be all over him.

    Ok this will sound mad but it totally works. I was told this years ago and I now use it to help me deep throat.

    What you do is squeeze the thumb of your left hand with that hand for 30 seconds as hard as you can. Your gag reflex will be gone.

    It sounds mad but give it a try.

    Do you hold your thumb while your doing it!? Or before?

    Thanks everyone for your advice, will def try brushing the back of my tongue..and the thumb grab thingy! Just tried it now worked for a little bit...would be interested to try when I'm actually giving bJ! X

    Ideally you want to move your uvula right out of the way and this should help with the gag reflex.

    When you're going down on him, try doing it with your mouth completely open (rather than wrapping your lips around his shaft) and actually let the tip of your tongue sit outside of your mouth. It may not feel like the most attractive look in the world, but this will open up your throat and make a much larger void for his penis to enter.

    Positions which keep your neck / throat straight also help as the head of his penis will go down your throat, as opposed to just banging against your uvula.

    Also, don't forget to breath. Exhale through your nose as you slide down his penis and be concious of your breathing at all times. This will keep you relaxed which also helps with keeping your throat open and your uvula out of the way. It also takes your mind off of your gag reflex, allowing you to get past it. And it stops you from getting out of breath and tired meaning you can go for longer :)

    Hi MissChar - There is some great advice here... For me I just try to relax my throat as much as I can and concentrate on my breathing. As long as I am relaxed and breathing through my nose I am ok - but the minute I think about it too much then I have problems.

    I am also going to try the toothbrush exercise - sounds intriguing...

    I think because you have been ok in the past you will be fine - just try not to over think it hun :)

    This happened to me recently!! I've never had a problem before, but half way through, it happened! Is it happening all the time? Just I found that deep throating is fine at the beginning, and then half way through OH's manhood just turns bionic and I can't do it anymore.

    If if its just a recent thing you're probably just thinking about it too much. When you're doing it, just think that you can do it, and you do it all the time and it might help.

    If not, I think it's Doc Johnson that do some good lollipops that help numb your throat, or get some strepsles?

    Could you have a throat infection coming on that's swelling? That could also affect it, hope you get results whatever it is :) xx

    I've been brushing the back of my tongue like someone suggested and its getting better. But I won't know for sure until the end of this month when my boyfriend's back! I'd never really had a problem before but yeah when he was just leaving I was hardly putting any of it in my mouth (sorry tmi) and gagging like crazy! Lol. And since he's been gone I tried with a toy to the same effect.

    I've had a look at those Doc Johnson lollipops! Could definitely be worth a try!! xx
