Does anyone else have a real downer after sex? I've noticed them getting more prominent recently but I guess I've had more worries in the background. New job in 2 weeks so maybe things will start looking up then anyway.

Just wondering whether anyone else has had this issue.

i have had this ocationly but not so often now. i am on the pill though and that may be why. also i sometimes get really fustrated when my body cant take as much sex as my mind wants and when i get fustrated over not being able to orgasom from penetration. youre right to identify stres as a posibility though as that can have a huge effect on your sex life.

Odd that I'm also extremely horny all the time too. Doesn't help when we can't do anything about it as a couple for a week either.

I only feel relaxed after an orgasm and fulfilled but then again I am a female.

Do you have stresses, worries on your mind? I guess it is possible that you can feel low after an orgasm but as I am not a sex therapist couldnt really advise you. It could be related to your recent change in circumstances.. with work.

Try not to worry too much and if things are looking up then its hopeful that things will improve on the sexual side. Good luck x

I used to get these quite a lot and I found that most of the time it was linked to guilt and feeling disappointed with myself.

Often it was after masturbating to porn.. I'd love it at the time but feel guilty and dirty afterwards. And sometimes I found it following sex with my ex as I just knew things weren't right.

I think that orgasm comes with such a high and makes all your emotions exaggerated in a way, so if you're worried or stressed or feeling guilty following orgasnm, it always seems a very big deal! Don't know if that makes sense! x

Well I guess money worries have been on my mind a bit but not hugely.

I am being made redundant and had a flurry of interviews in a 2 week period. Ended up with 3 1/2 offers from 7 interviews so not too bad.

Don't know that the job thing is the problem though. Maybe once I actually start the new job things will change but can't be certain.

I had this in the past. Personally it usually came when I was bit low about myself at that moment, or, as i am female, during sudden hormonal changes - which can for me happen round the menstruation. I believe it is due to the chemical changes after you orgasm - makes you feel very high and happy, and then the reality kicks in and sometimes quilt and regrets.

What I found useful to avoid this, apart from not having an orgasm if I knew I was in danger to feel really down, is to take a nap. I found that that usually did really help to lessen it, as I felt rested and also more balanced.

I think the stress is preventing the possibility of a nap but the new job should reduce that and maybe I'll go to sleep at the normal time again.

I am someone who has tendency to fall asleep after orgams, regardless whether during sex or masturbation. Unless I get up immediately afterwards. Depends on the strenght of the orgasm, but the chances are more likely I will than I will not, regardless of the stress

Apparently a man getting sleepy after sex is the body's natural way of reacting..you're just recharging your batteries Gunter ;-)

To OP - maybe try eating a bit of protein afterwards, doesn't have to be a full meal or anything fancy. Something about orgasms reducing dopamine levels in the brain I think. It one of those things that doesn't hurt to try and if it does help, it's easy enough to do.

I get it especially after masturbating. Think it must be the thing in the back of your mind about it being bad for you! Still do it again though lol.

My guitar tutor gets a similar reactin when he does a gig. It's something he calls the day after downs. After a bit of advice he was given by the docs, he always has some food after a gig before getting in the after party spirit.

I guess it's a similar thing. Give the body some fuel and a moment to slow down rather than crash. After sex though, it's an instant crash for me.

It happens to me. I am often quite stressed / worried and very often have a hard time switching of my brain and so I do have issues sleeping. The effect after sex is that pretty much straight after my mind switches back to all the stresses and the high from being intimate with my OH just disappears.

Maybe try eating a bit before hand then?

Stress can deplete levels of certain nutrients, maybe you can find something helpful by looking into that?

    Just some ideas.
