What does sex mean to the people of Lh?

Do people believe that sex is just a physical act between two people or a more emotional bond between 2 people?

Can a Fuck Buddy be purley just a fuck buddy and a one night stand be a one night stand?

not in my head..no. I've never had a one night stand or a fling..I don't at all think its wrong people doing so and I can totally see why people do, but personally I just feel sex is a meaningful bond between two people

I think that there are definitely physical and emotional attributes of sex, and both are unavoidable. I could never have sex with someone I didn't trust. However, that doesn't mean I couldn't see someone joining myself and my OH, or me playing with someone who is not my OH. Just that anybody else would necessarily have to be someone I knew well and trusted (which brings its own problems of whether the friendship would survive).

My feelings exactly! You took the words out of my mouth (or would that be 'fingers'...?), TT. :P

I know one night stands and being fuck buddies works for other people, and I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, but it's just not for me. There's something inherently emotional, exposing and bonding about sex - well, in my opinion, anyway. If I ever had a threesome (different topic, I know :P), it'd have to be with people I trusted so that I could allow myself to be vulnerable around them.

    So......

    Where do affairs come in?

As the general excuse for an affair is because they r not getting enough sex at home and it was meaningless!

    Btw,

Im very much a girl who believes that sex is a bond, emotion, feeling between 2 people! Something special. I truly believe you need to have a connection with the other person.

But thats how i feel about it! I dont see anything wrong if you can seperate the physical from the emotional.

    It can be both.

When I was younger, I had sex that was purely physical. I have also had sex with a very deep emotional bond. Some people can seperate them out, other people can't. I don't think there is a right or wrong, but there can be problems if the two people involved see it at opposite ends of the spectrum.

I find sex is a way of me and my other half showing our love. Always find if we've been without for a couple of days/weeks we become ratty with one another and then a quick shag makes us fine again. No idea if this is to do with the hormones or something though? I've never experienced one night stands or fuck buddies so don't really know how it would feel then.

I 100% agree. Sex can definitely be separate from emotion, but only if it's someone who you don't have a spark with. I think fuckbuddies do work, but again, only between people with no innate connection -- if one person would like more, then it's bound to end in disaster.

I think sex means whatever you decide you want it to mean, but there's also no denying that you can be suprised by an intimate connection where you weren't expecting to find one.

Sex goes hand in hand with love, trust and respect for me. I cannot see myself ever having a one night stand or having a fuck buddy. To me sex should be special and an extention/bonus of a good relationship.

    good question.

making love such a quaint expression, is to me just that, the emotional tie between two people that have deep seated emotions for each other and care to express that through giving and receiving pleasure.

sex can either be as above or an act of recreational pleasure where there is no lasting emotional bond. I've never done a one nighter, but have played with Hubby in a group scenario( not full on). It took ages for me to get my head around seperating 'pleasure sex' from loving sex .

    agree with this

i've never had sex with somone i've wanted an emotional connection with, so i havent made one. it does seem a lot easier to build a connection from being emotionless than to try to stop emotion once it has started.

one day i will probably have emotional sex - just hasnt happened for me yet

I think a fuck buddy can be just a fuck buddy and a one night stand can remain a one night stand. I've managed to keep it that way in the past and sex can definitely be separated from emotion for me!

But then with the right person sex is an emotional connection, you can't really get physically and emotionally closer than you can during sex.

I started freaking out when I wasn't feeling an emotional connection with my boyfriend during sex during the first couple of months but it came with time :) x

Never had sex but I believe, as I always have, that I couldn't have sex with a guy I didn't care about.

I feel sex can be sex and I've had plenty of it with people I didn't care about (men and woman)

When it comes to me and OH, something clicked there and the sex we have is fantastic and I hold that as something much more special than any one nighter/fb I've ever had.
