but yet this 1 says you have to be hard... even i'm confused now. must depend on whether its a jelly 1 like the vibrating 1s or the simple harder ring type.

Depends on whether the ring is stretchy or solid. If it's a solid metal ring, it has to go on before you get hard. My advice is to always err on the larger side with metal rings!

For stretchy ones or leather ones with snaps, you can slip them on any time. There's nothing dignified about stretching a rubber ring over yer tackle, so snaps or poppers are a good thing for the heat of the moment.

I've only ever used stretchy ones and I put them on when I'm hard - to keep all that hardness! You can still get hard with one on though, so it shouldn't matter if you put a stretchy cock ring on when you're not at your peak.

I find the lasso type rings (such as the 'Big Daddy' one they sell here at LH) are the best. They are less stretchy than the 'one size fits all' rings and they can be set so that they don't put much of a crimp in the blood-flow when you are flaccid but apply the right amount of restriction once you get hard. You can put them on before you get hard and can use them in front or behind the balls.

My only reservation about rings is that, while they help enhance girth and hardness, they seem to reduce the length. I thought I was just imagining this but my wife quite independently came to the same conclusion. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that quite a bit of the erectile structure is inside our bodies and so is outside the restriction of the ring. We have rather given up on rings recently having found that Kegel exercises (assisted by an EMS unit) give the same sort of girth and hardness enhancements as the ring without any down side.
