    Hi,

I'm looking to book a short break for me and my OH next month sometime (middle of the month probably). I'm just wondering where you'd reccomend? We went to Manchester before Christmas and it was very nice, loads to do and see.

I'd like somewhere similar? London will be too far/expensive I imagine, so somewhere closer would be better.

    Any ideas welcome :-)

The North West, Merseyside to be precise. I've been to the theatre in York once and it was quite nice from what I saw of it.

    Chester is nice.

I really like Nottingham too, good shops, good restaurants (have to go to Sat Bains), and great scenery locally.

Does it have to be a city break? There are plenty of really nice places in Wales.

gooqq: Thanks, I'll have a little look about

Shaft: City is preferred, easier to get to via train than the middle of nowhere. More for us to do in a city too!

    Wales is nice though, thanks.

North Wales is nice and close to where you are. Depends whether you want the buzz of a city or somewhere quieter.

How about looking for one of those cheap deals to Paris for a couple of days, it probably wouldn't work out much more than a British city given our rip-off culture.

If transport is a priority then you could also consider a short coach break at home or abroad.

I agree with AliMc that Liverpool's pretty good for a weekend break! Liverpool One for shopping, the Albert Docks have some great bars/restaurants and everything's quite central. Lots to see and do!
