Romantic and "Intimate" breaks...

Hi all,

I've been looking around at various websites to try and fine somewhere to take my wife away for a weekend.

Obviously most places at the moment are caught up in Valentines madness (overpriced IMHO - buy roses on the 15th Feb, see how much cheaper they are than on the 14th! :P ) however I'm plannig a break for the summer.

The main problem I'm having is that I'd love to find a secluded cottage somewhere, preferably with a hot-tub or a river we can go swimming (skinny dipping?! - never done that before!) in, but almost all the places that advertise themselves as "romantic" are either country estates or city centre hotels - cliched in my opinion...

And that's where you lot come in! I'm hoping that this can turn into a thread of the best places to hide away for a romantic (ok..."dirty") weekend  or longer where you can do what you want without fear of being discovered!

All suggestions welcome - who's going to go first?

MBB.

ummmm, wow... that's really not the kind of "secluded cottage" I had in mind... :P

Although I guess one person's "romantic" is another person's kink... :)

I was thinking more along the lines of places like http://www.eroticbreak.co.uk/ (who will lend you a sex swing as part of your stay) or posts from other members along the lines of

We stayed at cottage "x" and nearby there's a lake where we went skinny dipping together.

The bed was lovely and soft and there's a huge bath to share if you want too...

or

If you just want a romantic day out, there's a really nice secluded spot ofr a romantic picnic at "y", we've been there loads and very rarely see anyone...

I'd post some of my own, but I haven't got any yet... seems like there aren't many secluded locations left these days... :(

Anyone else with ideas/examples to share?

Generally avoid Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Slough ;)

My suggestion is to keep an eye on Groupon. You can get some amazing all-inclusive hotel deals on there in places you'd never normally think of going. Gets you much more for your moolah and because dinner/champagne/spa treatments are often included you can dedicate your planning time to sexier enhancements to your stay.

You'll also often find that if you call ahead at the hotel, you can have packages sent to the room in time for your stay ;)

xx

Hella's idea of Groupon is great, there always seems to be hotel deals on the ones I get, some are brill prices.

Warners Leisure breaks are only for adults so that might be an option for some nice locations, spas etc

Hoseasons do log cabins with hot tubs in various locations, but quite how private they may be I don't know.

Not sure how much you want to spend or where you are, but I stayed here http://crabandlobster.co.uk/ and it's absolutely amazing, the more expensive rooms all have private hot tubs, ours had a sauna in the bathroom too, now that was interesting ;) but it's £240 for the night, we did it for a birthday treat, They also have a couple of log cabins there, it's a lovely place. Food is great there too, one of the best places I've ever stayed :)

Some old threads have some good ideas in, which might be worth a look?

Thanks for the suggestions all.

I've been doing some looking around of my own today and I've found a Yurt which claims to be "secluded" with a "secluded plunge pool" in the river at the bottom of the field.

I've emailed for more details and one I know a bit more about how private it is (on the same page it says it's close to another building) I'll post details here.

MissTerryCleavage - crabandlobster looks amazing, shame it's a 3hr drive from us but I think it may well be worth the trip for a weekend... ;)

Anyone got any more suggestions?

I've spent a long weekend at the site I posted the link to,   secluded log cabins  with hot tub on the shore of a lake and you could skinny dip if you wanted

I'm proper fussy and not really a country girl but I enjoyed it

The New Forest in Hampshire has lots of nice hotels, and places you can go for picnics or walkies.... or quickies ;) However it is miles from any source of water so no swimming I'm afraid.

As for a bit more of the "dirty", a friend of mine recent went to a hotel in Brighton which was "adults only". There were allsorts of different kinds of rooms with quirks and perks. See here: www.myhotels.com

Plain Jane: I look at that site, thanks, definitely one to file away under "this looks like fun..." ;)

Oraly Gifted: I'll check out the hotel, I notice one of them has a "lovers offer" on at the moment...
