Pansexuals

After spending the last few months trying to work out my own sexual identity, and learning a few new words, I have recently discovered that I am actually a pansexual.

I believe I used to be bisexual in that I liked both men and women, and that basic split of gender was pretty much mostly what was important when searching for a potential mate.

Now that I have been with my partner for nearly 5 years (!!!) I have really had to have a think on my sexuality, because I do not feel that there is any need for me to state that I am bisexual while I am with him, and I do not feel bisexual anymore. But I do not feel straight either.

Then I stumbled across the word Pansexual. I think this describes me far better now than Bisexual does.

Funnily enough, despite it only being a word, I actually feel somewhat more at ease. Sounds silly, but it is true.

There is a Bisexual thread floating around somewhere, so why not a Pansexual thread?

I'm pansexual too AA (as you can see from my profile!), I did post in the bisexual thread a while ago but there wasn't much activity after that.

A persons gender is completely irrelevant to me for both sex and relationships. That doesn't mean that I will simply "shag anything" as some people seem to think, I have likes and dislikes just as everyone else does.

Personality is the most important thing to me, if someone is a horrible person then I simply wont be attracted to them no matter what they look like. I do have preferences for other traits and attributes but gender is not one of them.

The best way I can sum up my sexuality is that I either like someone or I don't and their equipment has absolutely no bearing on that decision.

I know exactly how you feel about your discovery and no, it doesn't sound silly at all. When I finally came to terms with my sexuality it felt like the whole world had been lifted off my shoulders. It might only be words but being 100% honest with yourself does make everything so much easier!

This describes me perfectly! If only LH had this category. I was confused with myself because I know I'm straight, but I've had gay thoughts time to time. I thought that perhaps I was bisexual, but I didn't become drawn to males at all unlike females. I think it's because I've been looking at porn at too young an age.  I think I just became curious about how it feels to be a woman (it's a shame we can only experience one side, but I'm not going to turn myself into a woman. I find that disgusting!) and started thinking what it'd feel like having a penis in my mouth or anus. 'Tis the reason why I'm actually wanting to buy dildos as well as masturbators!

Of course your not coming across mad Avrielle hugs*, Im pleased you posted this too as I am definitely pansexual, I love my OH who is male straight and I am totally attaracted to some girls, depending on personality then looks,
