Ok before I used to douche and then it would be fine but the problem is now that Im taking bigger toys and more of the ones I already own I keep getting the problem that for some reason these bigger toys seem to trigger something and I wend up running to the toilet.

What I need to know is simply am I doing something wrong or perhaps I need a new douche or maybe for bigger toys an enema is what I need?

You're going to the toilet probably because you are going deeper and opening the muscular constrictions at the top of the rectum. These contain nerve endings that signal when your rectum is full and tell you to go to the loo. Also if you force the muscles open you let down sh*t from your colon. This is easily done even with a thin dildo.

When you douche you need make sure the water enters your large intestine and brings down the pooh. Making sure you are absolutely clean can be quite a prolonged process. I usually flush at least 3 times before indulging in deep play. Ideally you need a nozzle that you can navigate through your sigmoid and into the colon. Look for a neoprene douche nozzle. I recommend using the longest you can get (18"). Don't bother with "colon snakes". They are incredibly difficult to get inside and once they are in they slip out all too easily.

I would suggest getting one of the nozzles you can attach to a shower head, for me these seem to get a better result (even when using bigger, longer toys).

Is there a nozzle that isnt for the shower sadly I only have a bath unless that nozzle could be fitted to an enema or something? and would it be possible to just shove the rather long tubing of an enema all the way up there ?

To be honest I don't know enough about it - my OH has a nozzle that attaches from his bath taps to a shower head, so theoretically you could attach the nozzle to something like that, but it seems a lot of effort to go to, I'm sure there is an easier way. You can get more extreme douches such as these...

Maybe something like those would give you a deeper clean?

I think I know what sort of attachments your talking about sadly the tap in our bath is one thick chunky thing that you cant attach anything to

Yeah, I'd never seen them until I met my boyfriend actually. I have to admit I did think it was a pretty nifty bit of equipment!

The middle ground to getting a shower installed would be the streammaster shower enema kit (http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=16707), a hanger over the bath and a hose pipe to feed water into the top from a mixer tap to control the temperature.

Personally, I find the best time to douche is about an hour or so after using the toilet and avoid eating for an hour or so before you expect to go (getting into a routine can make it easier), I usually don't eat until I've finished playing, eating makes the digestive system get moving and thats not what we want!

Ok. I have used the douche today and I presumed it was just jetting water in and out of you. I feel really uncomfortable though. Shuddery and sweating, like I get when my irritable bowel syndrome is bad.

Is it supposed to feel like that? I feel slightly sick..

    No AA, it's not.

I don't think you should use it if you get that feeling.

For me, it feels a bit like I need to go to the toilet until it comes out. No way is it shuddery and sweating.

I would assume douching with specific herbs/spices/concoctions would be better for IBS sufferers than plain water; however I have not done much research into which would be the settlers and which would be the agrivators.

I'd guess one to avoid would be coffee though!

Not quite freshmints, but peppermint essence would really be an interesting sensation, especially if you like chilled toys!

This site has a suggested dose for an enema, i'd guess that would be a safe place to start! http://www.health-information-fitness.com/peppermintenema.htm

Totally understand those, especially with prior discomfort, however if it was a sodium phosphate enema, a quick google shows they are used to stimulate bowel movement so I would assume some discomfort is inevitable.

I found a slightly more reliable article shortly after posting here http://www.medscape.org/viewarticle/555147 and http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7551780, which has some interesting information; but provide no information to the concentrations used.

Does anyone have experience of this at all? I'm intrigued!
