Nookie vs Monogamy

We have Nookie and the Mrs is willing to play it. Have read review it sounds like Monogamy is a better game overall with nice sharing moments plus more saucy things that push the boundaries a bit.

Is it worth getting in addition to Nookie? I was thinking for a valentines pressie. We'll be married 10 years this year. I'd say we have fairly vanilla sexual experience but we have watched porn and used a vibrator very occasionally.

Monogamy is a very fun game in my opinion but it is still fairly vanilla. I'd still get it though!

 I've got Monogamy. Not played it yet (hoping it's going to be this week) and it must say there are bits of it that certainly don't seem vanilla! The erotic dance square has me nervous, and some of these fantasy cards seem a bit over the top. I think they'd be a bit too much for me to consider a proper prize, and I can be quite kinky!

Can't comment on Nookii, but Monogamy is useful because you don't exactly have to follow the rules as detailed (ie, working your way up the cards, naughtiness-wise) so can always decide for yourself which level to stick on if the more steamy ones are a bit much for youself/a partner to feel comfortable with discussing/acting out. (Likewise, I always leave out the dancing thing, because I have no co-ordination whatsoever so can only expect if I were to attempt to dance it'd be a massive passion-killer, haha).

It's been a while since I played, but I seem to recall that we more just had a bit of a giggle over a fair few of the 'fantasy' cards, anyway. But we' normally ended up getting carried away before being able to successfully complete the game regardless. Cards everywhere.

 HA! my mind just didn't make the connection that you were talking about the GAMES by the names nookie and monogamy... i just thought "hm.. i wonder when 'nookie' became a term for promiscuity rather than just a cutesy word for sex...?"

 oh yeh sorry about that! forget that other people don't all think the same way and of course you're all not going to instantly recognise these as games.

Hey we usually get carried away as well but often it hasn't really made us do anything out of the norm but the tension is huge ( ahem  )

Well... I have had the pleasure of both! 

I would say that Nookii is a bit more spontaneous, more like a 'dipping into' game, where you can just play 6 cards or so and let it take it where it leads you...

Monogamy is much more of a 'proper' board game (I love board games anyway!). There's still loads of levels of play in Monogamy, so you can play as you wish to. Monogamy calls for more props, like food, blindfolds and a toy or two (Nookii is pretty much all about the scarf which is included).

I feel Monogamy is more of a game to really sit down and play, while Nookii is more of an addition to what you already do. Does that make sense? 

weve got monogamy only played it once but found it fun to play like missfortune said didnt get to finish the gane as we just pounced on each other well worth buying tho its gud fun

We have monogamy - its a really good game.  Can be played in lots of different ways:-) I highly recommend it.

Not played nookie - so I cant give an accurate comparison

Monogamy always looked like a fun game, but I can seriously imagine a lot of the things to be cringeworthy too!

 if i may hijack this thread slightly... i've been thinking about getting a pack of cards style game... with like, dares or positions on or something... but just in a pack of cards format, nothing big like a board game...

can anyone recommend any??

never mind ^_^ we've since bought "monogamy" and had a whale of a time just opening it quickly today to read a couple of the cards... we'd only read the rules and a few of the fantasy cards before jamba jumped on me O_o

we're planning a proper game this friday, complete with nibbles, drinks, and music (plus some silly music to do the "erotic dance" challenges to: anyone know what the music used for these videos is?! http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=13046 we stumbled across one of the demo videos with that backing song and thought it was hilarious.. it's kinda become an in-joke ^_^)

 Wish me luck too! Just bought it for valentines with the extras pack as well. Figured in for a penny in for a pound etc. We've enjoyed Nooki. I like the fact that this makes you take your time and the use of food and drink and the addition of some romantic / sexy talk will probably work a treat! It just sounds like this is a more rounded game really.

 Can I just ask those who have played what little extras are handy to have? I understand nibbles and drink are needed.

We'll probably drink wine I suspect as can't get trashed as Valentines is a week night this year.

I've got the accessory pack on order so I guess this covers most bases. Going to buy some strawberries and whipped cream or body chocolate or something. 

Any other things people have found useful to add to the enjoyment? Can't wait now

 hey BP ~ aside from nibbles and drinks, i found that quite a few of the cards called for yoghurt so your whipped cream/body chocolate idea would be great! we also needed a candle (a wax candle, not a massage oil candle) for one of the cards, massage oil (so the candle in the extras pack will be ideal for you!) a hat (??!!)

handcuffs and a blindfold would also have been really useful... but we made do with ties and tape ^^

i think we're going to be playing this again on valentines day ~ however we might play slightly differently, maybe just once around the pink level, twice for purple and thrice for red! ^_^ 

they totally need to introduce an extras pack so that more than 2 people can play - it would be amazing at swingers parties! lol... tho i guess then they'd have to change the name... o__O

Just to add to the confusion of a Nookii vs Monogamy battle Nookii have just released a brand new game TODAY! Nooki Confidential it's a spy-themed game with secret missions. There is a video available so that you can see it in a bit more detail. I'm loving the invisible ink pen and UV flashlight. Lots of naughty scribbling to be done with that.

 Me and the OH have decided we're going to play Monogamy today. Woop woop!
