Thing is, she maybe doesn't know any better, but this isn't her uploading a YouTube video: there's some burden of responsability on the people who are delivering that tripe. It's mind-boggling to think that apparently no one in the entire team realises just how out of touch their 'educational' programmes are.

O, I'm sure they do. But responsible isn't as funto gawp at. I'm sure the C4 peeps knew when they found some of the mentals they did it was expoitative but it gets people watching.

I agree. After episode 1 I thought - OK, I learnt something, fair enough,. Episode 2...OMG, enough. Basta! Awful. That teen reporter too, what;s the text abbreviation for "for fuck's sake" ? Furthermore, anyone else use 4OD and find the incessant ads for crappy phoneshop and gok wan really annoying? Never again. Bear Family on iPlayer from now on

Yeah, not good. Poor bloke, must be other issues? Childhood? bad experiences? Dare I say it...feminine hygiene? Maybe even his own sexual orientation?? Whatever, and I'm no expert, but I'd guess that another guy moulding your fiancées most intimates....probably ain''t going to help...

I didn't watch it because I didn't see much point, so can you forgive my ignorance for wondering why they had to mold the girls vulva on tv? O_o

Think "had to" might be pushing it...

Seemed like it was more for the shock value of showing some guy whose main activity seems to be making plaster casts of various vulvas so we can all point and snicker and go AWMAHGAWD! but it's justified because it was in the name of 'convincing' a guy who hated vulvas (vulvae? vulve? damn Latin!) that he should go down on his girlfriend.

Same way that, despite my dislike of mushrooms, covering them in plaster and then making me stare at all the different varieties will make me realise who scrummy the ones on my plate are! Wait...

Perhaps he will go down now, out of fear and insecurity. Straight from the Cosmo school of sex. Job done!

ok well i watched this weeks one. ( and last weeks but while i was essay writing so not in detail)

Guy who wanted 1st time advice

    • 80% of people have had sex by the time they're 18? i doubt this statistic. theres problems with surveys, one being that the people asked will usually try to give an answer tha the surveyor wants, rather than the truth.
    • the social worker woman went "you've never had sex?" in a really suprised and condescending tone, which i found really rather patronising.
    • there was a lot of focus on penetration, and that "everything but" isn't "proper" sex which annoyed me. it's still sexual contact and experiences so why devalue it?
    • Encouragement to get laid at freshers week is a bit weird, there's a lot of drink involved with most people so probably not good for someone's first time. the sex coach also said "don't drink too much" which is kinda contradictory to all of the other bits
    • then they go on about "don't feel pressured" in the voiceover which goes against all theyve just said!
    • it's good they mentioned to give foreplay but why the focus on oral. Not everyone likes it!

    Allergic to sperm

    • there was nothing mentioned about allergies to lubes or toys that could be the cause
    • it turned out she had thrush, but she wasn't advised to ask her partner to get checked for it, he could re infect her once she's clear of it
    • no advice on things like lubes which can cause thrush through glycerine content.

    small boobs

    • why such a fascination on tits? its been a segment on each of the shows to my knowlage. yes women do have issues with them, but shows like this also add to the stigma rather than taking it away
    • there was no work done with the girls partner, which would probably help her in the long term
    • the doctor knew sweet FA about surgical options and used "think" several times, which isn't confidence inspiring
    • no one mentioned to her that she was proportional
    • forcing someone to do a photoshoot probably isnt good for their confidence to be honest, and its a tatic the show employs reguarly, making people go outside of their comfort zones, and it dosen't sit easily with me

    Billie JD Porter, drugs

    • over hyped and over use of statistics which are probably mis leading
    • she constantly rolls her eyes wich pisses me off, and the accompaying montone voice
    • the teen's experiences throught section are slightly dubious to me, as they don't reflect what I or anyone else my age ( 20) have done! plus people will always exaggerate for something like this!
    • If you go to any nightclub there will be some drugs and sex there, dosn't mean everyones doing it!
    • she went "everyone there was having fun - except me!" well maybe if you wern't wandering around with a face like a slapped arse you might have had more fun!
    • the use of the "herbal remedies" no mention that the fake viagra things are usually placebo effects than anything medical.

    Poppers

    • I thought that they were illegal.
    • there was focus on use of them by the gay community which isn't true - hetro couples use em too
    • they effect blood pressure so might stop a guy getting an errection - this wasn't mentioned
    • I screamed at the telly when the sex coach brought out the anal eze stuff. good that she mentioned that the numbing ones can lead to damage but really! she could have helped them in infinatley better ways like use of lubes and warm up toys, so why this?

    Sex positions

    • why was this girl so fascinated with the intamacy thing of sex. surley sleeping with someone is intimate enough. it felt weird that the mother said the same kinds of things, so theres obvious influence there
    • again pressuring her to do something she dosen't like
    • the postitions seem like they would become uncomfortable if theyre done for a long time, most of them involved legs being held in the air.

    am I a virgin

    • again framing sex as purley a penatrative affair
    • it was good however that they explored his feelings on it, but it was still as penis in vagina sex and orgasm was all that's valuable.

somehting else ive noticed is that the doctor is really rather patronising, and the sex coach always seems like she's trying to be overtly sexy by her speech and what she wears, when theres no need for it really.

I know this thread has been knocking around a while but I clicked on it the other day and ended up watching miss nude australia last night (best undressed??), only to find I've met one of the girls off it - well, the girl who won actually Suzie Q because she's a pole instructor and came and did a one off class with the pole class I used to go to. She was lovely! I knew she was a stripper but my god the girl can dance too and do quite acrobatic stuff. Does this count as a claim to fame??!!

"The devadasi are Hindus who are married to god in childhood, and at puberty sold for sex. In this fascinating film by acclaimed director Beeban Kidron, we go on an intimate journey into the twilight world of the devadasi and meet the girls of Karnataka, southern India who are forced to live in this ancient tradition despite it having been declared illegal for more than 60 years.

The documentary investigates the surprising history of this little-understood community, reveals their rich and privileged past as concubines to the princes and priests of India's ruling class and explores their heritage as dancers and entertainers."

    Rape: A weapon of war

    http://english.aljazeera.net/programmes/rizkhan/2011/03/20113281926561788.html

What happens when women's bodies become instruments for warfare?

In the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo, records indicate that up to half a million women have been victims of sexual violence. For many, the trauma of the initial attack is compounded by social stigmas, leaving women isolated and marginalised.

On Wednesday's Riz Khan we ask: What can be done to eradicate rape as a weapon of war in the Democratic Republic of Congo?

We are joined by world renowned feminist and activist, Eve Ensler, whose latest project "City of Joy" provides shelter and counselling to women of the DRC; and award-winning photojournalist, Marcus Bleasdale, who has spent nearly a decade covering the conflict there.

You can join the conversation. Watch the show live on Wednesday, March 2, at 1930GMT. Repeats can be seen on Thursday at 0430GMT, 0830GMT and 1430GMT.
