As someone who 'helps' his good lady shave regularly can I just offer a couple of words of advice. Make sure you use a new blade and plenty of moisturiser afterwards 'cos if you are not careful it itches like hell for a few days afterwards!! (So she tells me, bless her!)

I think it does. I find I have less bumps & post shaving irritation/itch when I exfoliate afterwards. Plus it helps prevent ingrown hairs.

i'd say that it depends what you have now Anders - if its "au naturel" there may be little point as there'll be too much hair for the granules to get to the skin.

dont do it straight after shaving - the skin will be too sensitive. Its best to wait until day 2/3, when the first bits of re-growth are on their way through if you know what i mean!

be care ful not to get any of the gruanules inside you too =0)

Sorry for sounding noobish but I've brought stuff for exfoliating lately and wondering if you do it before shaving, after or both?

I have one of those exfoliating bars from Lush that isn't too harsh and leaves the skin all nice and smooth (and smelling purrdy) so I use that right after. Though I do agree with SarahLou22 that most are pretty harsh on just shaved skin, so wait a day or so.

I reckon you do the exfoliating thing between shaves (not just before or after) to slough off old skin cells so you don't get ingrowing hairs.

Has anyone tried epilating their pubes off completely?  I've just invested in an epilator (my first one) and gave mine a bit of a trim and yes it hurt like hell but did a very good job and I found it less irritating then waxing on my skin (I have very little body hair anyway and waxing just seem to to stick to my skin due to lack of hairy bits to stick on).  Did hurt a bit but it's sposed to hurt less the more you do it isn't it.  Anyway I'm very impressed and will save a fortune on brazilians!

Gotta love the freebies! I use the St Ives gentle scrub on the areas shaved. Does the job & doesn't tend to irritate the skin. Personally I don't do it every day, more every other.

I wax my "personal areas" lol but I was referring to exfoliating all over the body. I went to the body shop and got some freebie testers and facial exfoliater sponges for my face and I can do that once a day but wasn't sure about the areas that I shaved- like my legs. I've just been rubbing my body using exfoliating gloves every time I have a bath but wasn't sure if that was right or not.

    oops - sorry!

are they the body shop gloves? i like them too =0)

If you are using the gloves, its apparently called "body brushing" and you are meant to brush towards the heart to get the blood moving and cleaning everything internally (just read an article - i'm not a body brusging freak, honest!) As for exfoliating, apparently 3 times a week is about right, but not after a hot bath (didnt say why, but i imagine that its because it makes you more sensitive). There are ones you can use everyday as they are made for it (like the clinique everyday scrub that i have), but if they dont say every day on them then they may be too harsh and strip yyour skin of essential oils etc.

i'll try and dig the article out and post a link

Well in anticipation of the clone-a-willy kit, my OH has decided to shave completely blad so as to not get any short & curlies stuck in the molding gel. Gotta say, I'm loving the smoothness but I think I prefer things trimmed instead of bald. He's already complaining of itching.

shaving it all off can be an itchy nightmare!! i find trimming with an electric shaver does the job...don't want to be completely smooth

nicking the skin when i'm going round my cock and balls is not funny though :-(

My bodygroom (shaver and trimmer for everywhere except the face) just died, the day before I'm meant to be meeting up with someone for some naughtiness, ahhhhh!

I had to pop into town to buy this bad boy: http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=15063, it's the upgrade to the bodygroom I had before and looks perfect. Just gotta wait 10 hours for it to charge....

if you're going to shave then have a hot bath first and use plenty of shaving gel and a new razor and be very careful, keept the skin taught and only shave with the grain first few times

For god sake do not use a bic razor as advertised by John Mcenroe in the early 80's. . .you will bleed to death!  you'd be better with a broken bottle, The worst a man can get!
