What is best way for a woman to get rid of public hair _down there_ if one doesn't want to use wax?

I'm guessing shaving - if so, what paricular precautions should I take? Is there stuff (razors etc.) for this specific purpose only or would just any be okay with appropriate care?

Thanks for your tips!

out of interest, why not wax?  I know I'm biased but it really is the best way!

I heard waxing can leave you bruised and swollen in the pubic area - now that is what puts me off!  *shudder*

I think it depends on the skills of the beautican.  I've never been bruised there and honestly most women wax, but I understand if it's not for you.  Really waxing my top lip hurts more than a full hollywood!

Ive never been bruised either, and I wax myself (Hollywood)  I think shaving stbble when it starts to grow hurts more

i wax my top lip and if it hurts less than that then i'll go for it, shaving stubble is awful, it really hurts!

I think it'll be shaving+exfoliation, as suggested in the thread studley mentioned. Full hollywood is a suggestion a bit too far for now. And I'll go with what she's happy with.

To those with shaving experience: is is better to shave opposite the direction of growth (heard that this leads to more ingrowth) or in the direction of growth?

Do you go to the same place each time you get waxed imelda? I want to try it but want to find a place that is well recommended with a good reputation!! I will be trying out my freebie and doing a review, it has a shaver built in for intimate shaving.

See, now, how do you even DO this? I find doing my legs tricky enough...

By putting your legs in all kinds of funny positions IME LOL!!!!!

I would like to be brave to try waxing, but I am a wimp, may buy a home kit and try that first as I'd be slightly embaressed asking a beautician to do it

PB I go to Sam at Sinwaxing.  She just does it from her home, so really relaxed.  She's great, totally recommend her.

Just looked at the website, looks good. Does bikin line waxing last as long as leg waxing? A few weeks once you get into a routine. Im very keen but a bit nervous!

Ugh don't talk to me about smears. My last one was traumatic - the nurse was down there, doing her thing and for no reason she started telling me about how the patient who was in before me had an oozing wound that she had to dress. Not really the relaxing chat you expect to have when someone's poking around inside you in a horribly clinical way!

I'd say a hollywood lasts about 30 mins if she's being really thorough.
