Thinking of visiting the secret dungeon in high wycombe. Anyone been there?

Plan is to start with a photo shoot, then let the cameras roll and join the better half.

we both enjoyed 50 shades of grey both in movie and in book form.

trying to work out a way to ease her into the idea though of actually going to a dungeon. to be fair, i am a bit reluctant, given I have nver been, do not quite know what it will actually feel like? tacky or actually nice. i am hard writing this at the moment so i am definitely titillated.

so was thinking of buying a bondage collar to give her as a bit of a tease. any ideas? and more important, anyone been there?

This could be a really exciting experience for you and your OH but it will be much more enjoyable if you are both feeling 100% comfortable about it. There is no rush so take your time and talk about it.

I would imagine going from nought to dungeon might be a bit of a shock to the system. Perhaps you could try out a few things at home before deciding if going to a dungeon is something you would both like to do?

You could get a few things on the 3 for £15 bondage offer http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/special-offers/3236/

or perhaps a game like this http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=24157 (which comes with a blindfold, satin restraints and a flogged)

or a bondage kit is a good way to try out new things and work out what you like http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=32549

Whether you plan to just stage photos or actually want to engage in some play, you'll need some toys. The dungeon may provide some of these but personally I wouldn't want to be using anything that can't be sterilised and which may have been contaminated with bodily fluids. (There is some good information about safer BDSM here: http://safersm.org/safersmpamphlet.html#%5B%3Cdiv%20class%3D%22header1%22%3E%5DRestraints)

I have never played in a dungeon although I did used to work in one (behind the bar at events and doing PA-type stuff) so if you have any questions about dungeons in general, I may be able to help.

    Thanks Friday13,

Probably did not explain that we do have a playful side. We have tried various places and have got doem of the toys you listed. not quite nought but definitely a step up.

Definitely agree re reusing somebody else's toys is out of the question.

I think it is more of a novelty and keeping things spiced up. I looked up the site and could not figure out what to do with most of the equipment/furniture anyway!

I'm very glad to hear you are already experimenting with kink. I thought it seemed a bit of a jump from reading 50 shades!

If you email the dungeon they should be able to arrange for someone to talk you through some of the equipment when you get there. Your safety should be their concern (as well as your own, of course) so I would be very worried if they weren't willing to demonstrate how to use the equipment safely. At the place I used to work, you could arrange for the master to provide workshops/mentoring in any area he was skilled. It could be anything from how to use certain implements to needle play. Obviously this cost extra.

Alternative ways to learn skills include reading books (I like 'Screw the Roses, Send me the Thorns') and going to events (you can find things like clubs and peer rope classes on fetlife). Play parties might be a little daunting but they would give you the opportunity to watch other people using toys and equipment and you'd be able to ask questions (not in the middle of someone's scene though!). Remember, there is no expectation to play if you go to an event (I never have). If this is something you are interested in then something like kinky salon might be a good place to start. It's fun and involves fancy dress http://www.kinkysalonlondon.co.uk You could also check out what events the dungeons you are interested in visiting have. That would mean you could see people using the equipment you will actually be using.

The main thing is to take your time and make sure you are both 100% up for it. If it's the novelty and spice factor, there are plenty of things on the scale before visiting a dungeon. Maybe you could have a chat with your OH and find out if there is a particular area of kink she'd really like to explore (rope, SM, latex, D/s etc) and explore that together if you are interested in it too. That way, if you do decide to visit a dungeon, you'll be able to make the most of it and use what you have already learnt.
