So as a guy if I was say "down the pub with mates" there is no way I would discuss my own sex life/etc. yes maybe comment on say a girl another guy motioned at but thats it, do girls/women discus their own sex lives any/much more? just wondering.

    I'd say we do.

I'm one of 5 grils in with 30 guys in our university course & I'm known as the 'sex pest' cause according to the guys all I talk about is sex, the girls don't like it as they are slightly prudish but with the guys on my course we talk about pretty much anything, from our own sex lives to what porn we watch, things we like, etc. We all get a giggle from it & we'll comment on pretty people we see in public.

I'd say so, yes. I know I talk to my best friend about sex almost every day, not to mention I spend so much time on these forums talking about sex as well! Whereas my partner swears he never talks about sex with his friends, as he prefers to keep it private and feels uncomfortable otherwise. He talks about it a lot with me though ;)

I tend to discuss masturbation, toys, BDSM and allsorts with my closest friends. I never used to, but now I can it feels great having someone to talk to :)

Yeah, I'd say we do but I think it maybe because it seems to be expected of a guy if he talks about sex to just say something along the lines of 'had a good shag last night' . Us women possibly feel more able to be open to talking about our emotions and feelings as well as the actual act itself.

+1 my bf says he doesn't talk about sex as he thinks it's odd & is personal to us. I can't help but talk about sex with my closest friends, my best friend once sent me a photo of his internet history to prove he'd watched porn that week so I culd be proud of him.

I just asked my OH if he ever talks about sex with his mates. He said "Meh not really. I don't think I ever have tbh.... weird"

Yet I know I do all the time, to both my female and male friends. I have no boundaries with that kind of thing.

I reckon so. Me and the girls talk about sex and sex toys all the time. We even go so far as to get down of the floor to show rather than tell if we're discussing positions, which is always a giggle, and we've been known to give each other playful smacks with new hitty things.

But I asked the OH and he looked a bit horrified by the idea of talking about our sex life with his mates. He said he had in the past with other girlfriends, but that was the key word for him. I'm not his girlfriend, I'm his wife and he says talking about what we get up to would be disrespectful in his eyes (that and the fact he worries a few of his mates would stroke out if they knew, lol).

Conversely, he doesn't think me talking about sex with my friends is disrespectful to him.

Generally I think women are more open to discussing sex seriously with their friends, well thats always been my experience. Whenever I've heard men talking to their mates about sex it always seems to be some kind bragging contest !

Not in my case. I talk  sex and all topics related with my male friends, because my female friends clam up! It isn't 'okay' for them to admit they masturbate, sex toys are dirty and perverted, and when they do talk about sex it's bragging about all the sex they aren't actually having but COULD have had (because guys love them) to try to make themselves sound experienced. Have great discussion with the guys though, who are down for some serious and non judgemental discussion on any topic, not to mention my partner :)

Us girls do probably talk about it more. Not a day goes by where I don't talk about sex. It's honestly my favourite subject of choice. I could talk about sex forever! Sex sex sex sex sex

When I was at uni, and around that age in general, I would discuss sex with friends. But no way would I now, I'm married, and what goes on in our bedroom is between me and the husband.

My university course is 90% female and the 3 men that are on the course are gay (not being rude it's just a fact), and every lunchtime all we talk about is sex and porn and fit men! I find it amusing as I've never had this before now :)

God yeah, definitely! Forever discuss it with my best female friend. I'm in a "situation" with my male best friend and his gf. His gf and I discuss sex a lot too.

I think the coversations are a little different. We are constantly talking about sex in the office (as you can imagine), worse when it is all girls on the shift. The conversation I would say is more crude with the girls rather then with boys in the office.

It is suprising how unshockable everyone are, nothing phases them.

However, my male friends do love to chat about flicking the ol' bean. Atleast they know where it is... I guess!!

I was always under the impression that women tend to talk more about romance than actual physical sex .For example if a bloke walked in a pub they would comment something like " I wouldn't mind being swept off my feet by him" etc.

Blokes do talk about sex but its a lot more cruder and to the point.

I think girls talk about it in more detail than guys. There's always exceptions though ;)
