So it looks like the many won and The Sun news paper will no longer be publishing their famous page 3 models, topless.

What are your thoughts on this?

I dont buy any newspapers but in all fairness I never saw the point in this crusade, they're breasts...so what?

Same went for the lads mags, again never bought them but still, what exactly was so bad about breasts? If you don't like it you don't consume it, it's all very simple.

I never quite understood why they were there in the first place. To make me feel awkward while my Grandfather read his paper? For young boys to snatch and go wide eyed over as they had no access to the real 'naughty' magazines? For young girls like myself to see them and believe that was what I would have to grow up to be like to be beautiful, because it isn't some magazine showing airbrushed unrealistic models it is a NEWSPAPER and they only print truth?

No need for them. Be glad to see them gone. Totally pointless including them in a newspaper! One reads a newspaper to read news, not look at tits for no particular reason.

I think it's a gesture long after Page 3 has ceased to be relevant.

Page 3 honestly doesn't bother me one way or the other, but I'm a man. I have some vague nostalgic memories of good times with it, but I doubt people are going to stop buying The Sun just because they've dumped Page 3. It's probably the right thing to do politically.

In fairness, it's The Sun. :p

Wasn't there a time when papers also printed men occassionally? Page 7 maybe? In a cack-handed attempt to seem balanced? I honestly can't remember.

In context, that was the thought of a young me. Where I was told they were the truth and of course I believed it! :p

It's really remarkable to think that in my lifetime, bikin-clad women had a place on peanut cards and beer cans and noone thought anything about it (or at least I didn't). I wonder what we take as normal now that our children and grandchildren will be horrified by.

i came to the conclusion that if there is a page 3 then there is no really horrendous news to report on. Seems when there was a disaster in the world then page 3 wasn't there.

Don't buy the paper but about time. I remember my nan use to read it when I was a kid and always felt well awkward when I use to see it. I would be worried one of the kids would get hold of it. Imagine if you left a porn mag out you would probably get reported

Page 3 is totally outdated. There may have been a time when people bought the newspaper to ogle at the topless woman on page 3. However, with the being so many devices connected to the Internet now, why would anyone need to buy the paper to get their kicks?

Anyway, the women that are shown are photoshopped. I'm not interested in fakery.

If they ban the boobs they should also ban pictures like those Towie numpties with their silly banana hammocks on.

I couldn't give a toss. I will miss the insightful thoughts and comments of the models on whatever the big news was at the time, however.

They did actually put stuff like that in there?? I genuinely don't know; even though I fairly often read British newspapers, I admit that I have never been brave enough to read "The Sun" - or, for that matter, its Czech cousin called "Blesk" ("The Flash" or "The Lightning"). Must have been something to brighten up an overcast morning, I guess.

I always thought it was kind of pointless and outdated to be honest. Also sitting at work watching old men look at 19yo girls whilst eating breakfast kinda makes me feel sick.

I don't think it should have ever been there, the idea that men need to see naked women to buy something is rediculous.

Doesn't bother me that's it's no longer there, just leaves more space for bad news.

My thoughts exactly. It was tacky and unneccessary and I'm glad it's going. I don't know why anyone thought that naked boobs should have a place in a newspaper.

I'm glad to see it gone and it's a start. But sadly it pales into insignifance as long as the paper continues to objectify the female subjects of its reporting and promotes a misogynistic view of the world.
