Is water based okay or will it have to be anal lubricant specifically?

Anal lube is good but any lube can be used.

    Thanks :)

I was thinking of going for water-based so it's not sticky and whatnot, I just wanted to double check.

Water based is always ok. With other types of lube you just need to be mindful of any potential mismatches.
Specific anal lube also tends to be thicker than regular lube.

Best lube would be liquid silk (sold on lovehoney), its sold in Sachet, small bottle & large bottle - Its very good. We prefer it - 100% recommended!

One of the best lubes for use with sex toys, Liquid Silk is a luxury, non-tacky water-based personal lubricant. Use with a partner (it's a great skin conditioner!) for intimate massage, foreplay or intercourse.

Once used, it will leave behind a greatly improved skin feel, tone and texture. Liquid Silk is luxurious, touch sensitive and designed to reduce the risk of breaking skin.

Liquid Silk is also formulated to be bio-static, stopping bacteria and yeast transmissions.

I'm not sure on the thicker lube. My partner isn't a fan of the stuff as it's often sticky and gloopy and 'bleurgh'!

I'm definitely looking for a lighter, sleeker lube.

This is a water-based anal lube:

Even though it says "extra thick" I don't find it that thick at all....

I highly recommend Sliquid Sassy for butt stuff - it's thick enough to give some cushioning for anal, but not at all gloopy and it stays where you want it to.

water based is fine, should try avoiding silicone lube with silicone products, as a general rule of thumb.

Anal specific lubes tend to be thicker or numb the area. Gun oil is a good lube to use, made specifically for anal use. Lovehoney's own brand is ok, givelube and nexus own brand of lube
