Anyone see the News of the World's tear-jerking tale of a bride-to-be who dumped her bloke after finding out he'd been in porn films?

What would you think if your bloke (or girl) had been in Cathy Barry Extreme Cougar?

What kind of answer is "I would have told you all about it but you never asked me", when it says that she thought he was a fitness instructor?!

Personally I wouldn't have a problem with any career a partner had, but I suppose the issue would have to be about trust. Definitely sounds like he was keeping it from her, and unless they had a prearranged agreement that it was acceptable to be sleeping with other people, I'd assume that would be a violation of said trust. But having said that, you never get the full story with articles, so I won't jump to make a judgement quite yet :P

If a partner or prospective partner were up front about having been in porn films, I'm fine with that.

As I said in another thread, I consider that my health takes priority over anybody's guilt and shame.  So if a partner put my health at risk by failing to disclose parts of their sexual history, then I'd dump them for sure.  As mimiaow said, this issue is about trust.  If I cannot trust a partner to respect my health as a priority, then I cannot trust them full stop.

Disclaimer:  I haven't read the article, partly because stories like that are why I stopped watching television, reading newspapers, and listening to the radio 8 years ago.  So any comments I make on this topic are based solely on the posts here.

Also, I think the headline is misleading.

I disagree that the bride dumped her fiancé for being in a porn film.

I think the bride dumped her fiancé for pissing all over her trust.

:o I too would have binned him, if he hadn't told me what his job is as I would feel and think he was cheating on me!

And to be honest, I do not think I'd be ok with it if my boyfriend was a porn star even if he told me - I get very jealous etc. so it just wouldn't work and I'd also feel that even if he did tell me, that it woudl feel like he was cheating on me. Sex with someone else, any kind of sexual contact and kissing (on the cheek is ok but on the mouth or eleswhere is not) someone else while in a relationship is cheating as far as I'm concerned.

It's quite simple - if it were me, he would be dead, I would be in prison, no ifs or buts.

In this case I don't think you can separate the two Lubyanka - she must feel totally violated and the lies just magnify the hurt.

The vast majority of people would absolutely NOT be ok with their partner "performing" in porn, to find out from a third party is vile enough in itself but how did he think it wouldn't be an issue?  Just when was he planning on letting her in on his sordid little life?

What a vile individual he must be.

Well, obviously I can separate the two, even though I respect that some do not.  Although I do appreciate and acknowledge that many people are monogamous, I am polyamorous, and this means that I regard love as an infinite resource which can only increase over multiple people.  So I speak from my own perspective, of course.  :)

Therefore I consider being in a porn film and lying to be completely separate issues.  Both are individually and singly possible without the other, after all.

And I agree that liars are vile.

i think it is terrible that he lied to her about his career. and i too think the main issue is about trust and endargering someone elses health, plus showing little respect for your partner.

however in the article it states that they have only been dating for 5 months. and he moved in after only one.  i think that 5 months is extremley early to be living together let alone planning a wedding together.  and personally i wouldnt have that level of trust in a partner untill at least a couple of years down the line

plus her going to "news of the screws" has more or less furthered his career by the amount of publicity he's gonna get from it.

Porn star-fine.

Liar-not fine. Especially given that it was not a lie of omission, but an outright lie (unless in not going to the gym in the last year I have missed some big changes in the fitness industry).

What tasty goodness have I been missing through my tuna sandwichy lifestyle?  Maybe after my Specsavers appointment tomorrow I should join a gym.  :)

I read the article in a magazine and he got to say his piece, he said he wanted her back and he would give up porn but in the future he would only go out with girls who accept what he does. which makes it sound like he was the one wronged lol.

He shouldnt have lied to her. if my boyfriend became a porn star Id accept it but if he was doing it now and I found out he had been lying I would be upset that he lied, especially if I was getting married to him.

i mean if he can lie abou something like that god knws what else hes lying about x

After finding out he'd been in porn films  ...... like how?

Bought and watched one of his films?

Her best friend was screwed by him in one of the films?

Her mum saw him and told her?

He told her !!! Wait half a mo no breach of trust there then eh.

Insufficient information to answer this one, health clearly gets my vote!!!

No, I lied about the tuna sandwiches as part of my cunning plan to fool you all into giving me everything you own.

Of course I eat tuna sandwiches, what kind of question is that?!

Tuna sandwichy lifestyle needn't necessarily mean that you do eat tuna, wasn't there a tofu burger lifestyle several decades back??? I'm sure the shooting, hunting fishing set don't all shoot, hunt or fish, and l bet there are some Blue Rinse Set members who aint as well. I would have started to fret if you had forsaken tuna sarnies as well along with all the other things you seem to have kicked into touch!!

Hence no it wasn't really a serious question !
