You know what? That title was suppose to be funny but on rereading it even I stuck two fingers up at the screen and sighed!

Hi, my names is Nessie or Ness for short. I've had this nickname forever as I was born in Inverness and my friends rarely see me but know of my existence!

I'm 31 and have been married to Willie, a 46 year old graphic designer, for 13 years and we have a wee girl of 7 called Ailsa who is the light of our life.

I'm a stress, addiction and grief counselor by trade but haven't worked in 8 years after getting breast cancer while pregnant with Ailsa. I also had skin cancer in this time but suffered worse with endometriosis. Things got better after radical hysterectomy last August. Happy happy! Anyway I'm all better now and have just applied to go back to college to do a catch up course so that I can get back into the field as soon as possible.

I've always been over interested in sex and was chuffed to all Hell when I found this website. I've been buying stuff from Lovehoney for years now because I was determined not to loss my sex drive after all my treatments. Lovehoney has been a lifesaver for my husband and me. All the toys, products and excellent reviews meant that we never bought a product we didn't love and were able to test things out gently after I changed down below.

I only got really well in the last three months and am so happy all the time that I'm convinced Willie is slipping me something in my coffee. I'm extremely proud to own a big box of toys which are well cared for and very loved. I call it my box's box and, at the moment, all I think of is filling it to the brim. A wee bitty hard since Willie is the only one earning a wage right now but not impossible with the bargains on here.

As I'm sure you have figured by now, I talk way too much and frequently my best friend feels the need to hold up A3 signs which read 'Take a breath' or 'Shut the hell up' Regardless of this annoying fact I hope to make friends on here. I have a really rubbish, surreal and sarcastic sense of humour but assure you that I never mean to offend anyone ever. The things I can't stand is judgmental bullies who make people feel small and drama queens who crave attention. I can't wait to get chatting with you all.

Cheery the now

Ness

Good grief this site IS friendly. Thank you so much.

Nice to see the  Scots end kept up Fr33b1rd (oohh errrr). Yep I've been through a lot but then who hasn't these days and I'm grateful because it's made me appreciate things way more than I ever did.

Sounds like bliss in your house Miss Nat, silence for a wee while ehe? I wish my cat would sleep right now. He's currently stalking around demanding attention. Bless him!

Ailsa is fantastic Nexas, she's the funniest wee toot in the world. She loves art like her dad and winding people up like me :) I'll be honest, Ailsa is my mum's name and Willie loved it too so I got voted out of all the oddbod names I had. I'm glad now though. She looks like an Ailsa if you know what I mean. We were told we'd never have kids but here she is and is begging us to foster her some brothers and sisters... Which we are more than happy to comply with. She speaks her mind like me too. Last week in School there was a very religious teacher taking her class and stated , rather narrow mindedly for a non religious school, that Jesus made her.

"No he didn't, my mum and dad did after daddy wore a kilt to his Christmas night out and mummy jumped him. I don't remember them saying if Jesus was there but I'll ask!"

We were called to the school for that one, along with the fact that Ailsa refuses to write about her future dreams of marrying a man because she feels she's too young to know if she likes boys or girls yet. The school complained we discuss too much with her but in my opinion there's nothing wrong with not forcing our child to choose a sexuality before she properly understands it. *PHEW* That was a long post for a one line comment. See? Told you I talk too much :)

sex-Nessie i totally agree with you about how you are raising her. it is so sad that people are so narrow minded and part of the problem with most of todays young adults is the very conservative and restricted sex education they receive in schools.  its a subject that has come up on theese boards quite a few times!

No worries Ness, I think the title is rather charming :)

It's lovely to meet you on here, and even lovelier to have a great introduction. I'm pretty sure you'll fit in well here! I'm sorry to hear about the cancer and not-so-nice things in the past (we've had a little history of cancer in the family, so I can possibly vaguely relate to what you had to go through), but it's great that you're doing so well now - hopefully the last three months will keep up!

I completely agree about LH - I've only ever purchased, ahem, bedroom accessories from here - one of the major bonuses has got to be the reviews and information you can find out prior to parting with that precious cash. Don't get me wrong, it's fabulous fun to have a nosy through the back of Ann Summers with the housemates, but this is my port of call when the money comes in. :P

Oh yes, and you can never talk too much! Hope to speak soon,

mimi x

I never thought that I would say anything like this about a kid, but your child is a genius!

Ohh Nexas, an Irish American? You're spoilt ma boy, best of both worlds there. I agree with you. I'm always hassling Willie to let me call him Liam but to no avail so far *GRUNT*

I know what you're saying Sweetlove and I'm really glad there are other like minded people on here, is harder to find than I thought. I spend most days unteaching Ailsa everything she has learnt in school. They had her colouring in a 'Join The Army' (sadly not THIS army) poster on Monday, she added a couple of dead bodies to it and scribbled 'no thanks' under it, the teacher gave her detention and we marched down to the school and went mental. What the hell happened to freedom of speech? What because she's 7 she can't have an opinion? We're raising a confident, openminded child to ask questions about everything, not a mindless atomatron. Excuse me while I go burn my soapbox now :D

Anyone who says the line 'you can never talk too much' is immediately a friend Mimi, oh and always regretting the line two minutes later while trying to escape the barrage of crap emminating from my piehole. I agree with you on the genius front, Ailsa's quotes could go down in history. She mocks Willie and I on a daily basis and loves nothing more than to wind up her right wing, homophobic , racist relatives. My favourite line of hers is

" I can't wait til I'm old enough to vote. Have you checked out that hot black girl socialist yet?"

I swear I saw my aunties head turn 360 at that. Brilliant!

On that note I'd best be gone and read Ailsa her bedtime story before she starts emotionally blackmailing me with threats of child services and the such.

I've loved chatting with you guys tonight, I can't wait to come back on tomorrow. Cheers for making my day. Open minded, Funny, Friendly and together. Why, you're just spoiling me Lovehoney!

Cheery the now

Oh sweetie - official OA friends now! :P Seriously though, I cannot imagine that any of us could refer to it as a 'barrage of crap', especially not if you tell you more about Ailsa, who I have decided is my new role model. That is certainly the way to bring up a child, and it's a pity that more people in the world don't recognise the importance of individual expression and strong convictions. I wish that I'd had the guts to be so open as a child (as if I don't make up for it now!); nothing is more interesting and stimulating than a good debate. Except for perhaps a wee bit of prejudiced-relative baiting...!

I'm so glad that you like us here! You are most definitely welcome to stay now :)

Hope to chat soon! x

p.s. Are you a BtVS fan, by any chance?!
