Now I have worked out how to download and slow down music from youtube.... can anybody recomend some game theme tunes to work out by ear? If I can work it out and they are good I may record them and post them online!

Maybe something from The Sonic the Hedgehog series (Green Hill Zone maybe) or maybe the Final Fantasy VII Boss Theme.

Basically anything written by Nobuo Uematsu ... might be spoilt for choice there though.

Already ahead of you on the FF7 boss theme as I think it is awesome anyway.... Infact really I love all FF music.... need to properly look up the black mages!

The Mario 64 red cap theme tune is also awesome.

This is my favourite game tune ever:

Why will it take you a while? Use "Free Youtube to MP3 converter" by DVDVideoSoft to rip from youtube then Audacity to chop it up, speed it up or slow it down or whatever you want. Each one should take less than 10 minutes

As my ear is not very good yet so it takes a while to work out the notes..... and have been downloading and slowing down them now but it doesnt help with the lack of a decent ear or knowledge on what different intevals sound like.

I will get there and it is fun trying to work stuff out rather than useing terrible tabs

How about something from Morrowind (The Elder Scrolls 3) or Bastion? Both have beautiful and awesome soundtracks. :)

You want to check out Chrono Trigger's music. Some wicked stuff to have a shot at in there.

The FF7 One Winged Angel is an obvious one - espesh the Advent Children version where they have actually done a rock version.. But J.E.N.O.V.A can work on guitar too. (Was also done on Advent Children)

You definately want to check out FF8's The Extreme. You tube it and there will be a couple of others who have already covered it, (and you could probably use your slow-down thingy to work out their tabs) but blimey it's amazing. You gotta have skill to play it though.

FF9's Trance Kuja is made for the guitar. You could probably work that one out reasonably easily!

I'm assuming you are just playing guitar? Playing game music on a piano is a whole other world!

(As you can probably see I'm a FF fan. I don't know too much on other game music.)

Just thought I would give an update as I am proud of how far I have gotten!........ Almost up to the soloy type bit of the FF7 chocobo theme and to me it sounds note for note perfect (although I dont have perfect pitch so I may be wrong). I am past where it has been tabbed and the tabs on it arent very good anyway!

If anyone wants me to make a tab for it and send it... I would be happy too!
