The ICDW thread seems to have a lot of sad people (myself included haha) in it, maybe it'd be nice to share what has made you happy or cheered you up recently

So I'll kick things off and say today it has been my (5 year old) son. He lives 100 miles away from me so usually I have him for the whole weekend every other weekend but yesterday he had a birthday party to go to, so today I've travelled up on the train to see him. We took a bus to the next town along, had a happy meal (well..he did I had a big mac haha), then went 10-pin bowling and it was his first time ever and he got 87! (with the barriers ofc..I got 144 and didn't touch the barriers once :D), played air hockey and a football game, then we had a walk around town and I got him a Mario hat and a little hotwheels car and myself a DVD, we sat by a little fish pond for a while then took the bus back home!
Had such a lovely day and whats great is he's recently had a few issues with his behaviour etc. but he was so fantastically good today and I've told him if he continues to be good I'll make the bowling a regular thing.

With all the rubbish and lonliness I've been feeling recently its just been so nice to forget everything and enjoy a day with him

    Share your happy thoughts!

I was at the wedding of my friend whom I've known for close to 20 years.

I got to see my oldest friend too.

And... I've started seeing a beautiful woman who, for some reason, seems to like me!

Sounds like you had a great time with your son. For me it was just when I came back from uni for the weekend, and was able to catch up with some good friends I haven't seen in a while.

Hi Turtle sounds like you spent a wonderful day with your son and I am happy for you

As for me after years of clinical depression, erectile dysfunction and becoming a diabetic I have learnt to enjoy life whatever happens...I do get sad, at times lonely and frustrated but these days I don't dwell on them!!

These days I can honestly say I am happy and if I am having a bad day.....a smile from a stranger or just hearing some good news from someone lifts me up

I won a Tantus dildo in a competition recently. Having never won anything before I was over the moon about it, especially since I got the news that I'd won after returning home from my final university exam! Also I got a new bookcase a few days ago and put it up all by myself, lol. It's the little victories that matter!

Having a nice day out with my boyfriend today for the first time in ages!  We live together so it's not like we don't see each other all the time, but our work/uni/college schedules clash so often and we're both so busy that we hardly ever manage to find the time and energy to go out and spend some quality time doing things we both enjoy.  We had an afternoon of art, then a nice early dinner out and then a slow wander home in the sunshine.

BIg smiles from my baby girl in the morning always cheer me up even when I've been up ALL night with her.

Yea was great! Ah wow OK that's really great you've learnt to not dwell on things, that's most important thing otherwise it's just a downwards spiral

Must be such a relief! I was trying to disuade my son from wanting to be an 'Army man' today as I'd just be too worried about him haha, I think we settled on coast guard helicopter pilot! I have massive respect for anyone in the armed forces though, and you must be really proud!

I'd have dissauded son from going into Army too, fortunately he chose the Navy & is on Submarines. And yes very very proud.

ToyingAround, your OH is indeed a hero for stepping in to help, many would've shyed away from helping.

nice bed time talk with my partner over skyp. wasnt expecting to get to talk tonight and we logged on at almost the exact same time. its the small things

and remembering all the silly things we do when we're together and how in only 10 rag doll days we will be able to enjoy them all.

also, my partner googling stuff about kitens to help me look after the tiny 4 week old one i rescued on friday. its nice being able to work together on something even when so far appart. and its lovely seein how he cares so much.
