A friend of mine has been lending me a lot of new films recently, mainly rom com and similar. Rom com's aren't films I normally watch unless with friends or ill, so think she's trying to get me into them more.
Anyway I watched:
Going The Distance, I didn't think Drew Barrymore's acting was as good as other films I've seen her in. Though I did lioke how it didn't have the standard hollywood fairytale ending.
The Ramen Girl, I liked how the Japanese actors (most of them) actually were Japanese. Basically it's about an american girl who goes to Japan to live with her boyfriend who then leaves her. She decides to learn how to make Ramen, there are parts of Japanese culture, long hours at work, and drinking...
Orange County, About a boy who wants to become a writer. he applies to standford and it just messes up from there. Jack black plays a good slacker role as always, and the misfit family seems so unreal you can only relate to them.
Holes, now I read this as a book when younger and really enjoyed it. The disney version didn't let me down, even though it wasn't prefer the charcters were very similar to how I pictured them in the book.
Southland Tales, as rather trippy film which is expected as it's from the same writer and director as Donnie Darko. It has time travel, pornstars, unreal drugs, war, gangs. Even though it's a rather slow pass film I enjoyed it though I will need to watch it again with maybe some booze to get a better understanding of this film.
Tangled, I really liked this. When I heard it was coming out I thought Disney were going to mess it up but it seemed to have worked.
Marie Antoinette, slow... the characters even though beautifully dressed hardly said anything, badly cut in places, soundtrack didn't relate to the era, pretty shoes though.
The Princess and the Frog, Again Disney shocked me. This reminds me of their old classics, and I really enjoyed it, espically the dark vodoo elements.
Also just finished watching Tenjho Tenge which is an anime series and not a movie. Really enjoyed 5this series but the ending didn't feel complete, which often means there hasn't been enough manga produces, or they run out of money, or they are working on a series two.... only time will tell. But it has motivated me to become stronger as a fighter.
I haven't watched Paul recently but I actually really enjoyed it when I saw it. Though I got a lot of the comic book jokes which a lot of my friends didn't understand, my fault really for being a geek.
That's a few I've watched recently, certain there was more.
