last night i had some grilled haloumi and cous cous ( you do need to check the haloumi though as not all of it is veggie and it obviously won't be vegan!)

all you have to do is to chop the haloumi into slices and then dry fry in a pan, or on a griddle.  the cheese stays crispy and browns to make a nice tasty crunchy stuff.

and cous cous is like rice but simple, just boil the kettle, pour water over the cous cous, cover and set aside for 5 mins untill fluffy. otherwise the haloumi would be nice served warm with a bed of salad as a starter, or with some bruschetta

Or pita bread and red onion jelly and balsamic vinegar.

Grilled halloumi is my favourite food on the planet :D

I confess I haven't actually tried a specifically non-meat curry (other than daal - yum!), but I do love other non meat options...

P.S. You've probably already figured this out - I'm an omnivore who absolutely adores vegetables, and is friends with many vegetarians and vegans.

It does seem a bit strange - but then I don't like fish.....

I have a great chickpea soup recipe from Jane Brody's Good Food Book. It uses sweet potatoes as a base, so no need for cream or stock. Good for autumn/winter and cozy gatherings, but not summer party food. Give me a shout if you'd like me to dig it out.

Quorn Fish Fingers. How strange. I used to buy Quorn burgers because I actually really liked them!

I can't live without meat though. But to be honest, meat in supermarkets is gettting worse and worse by the week! I'm sickened of chicken, wont buy chicken legs or thighs anymore because they are awful. Pork is getting worse too and I'm not that keen on supermarket chops now, even though I used to love them. Even roasting joints don't have much flavour and are getting more and more fatty.

I've been tempted to keep my own chickens in the communial courtyard of the flats here. Real fresh nice eggs available and the chickens wont be overweight and nasty if the time comes to put one in the oven.

I can buy a whole pig for around £70. (Live of course). But the OH wont let me have one. :(

I've gone completely off fish now too. I go through phazes of liking fish, and then I just can't stomach it at all.

Quality of food is the main issue with me, so if I were to actually turn veggie, it would be only for the reason that the quality of the meat I can get is awful.
