Any good contact/dating sites?

Can anyone recommend a decent contact/dating site? Most of them seem to want lots of money before you can send/read messages, which I never trust. I joined a site yesterday and had two messages from an 81 year old lady the same day! I could do with a shag, but I'm not that desperate

 The problem with dating sites, is that there are some free ones out there. BUT the problem is that they do not have the money for the advertising required to make them sucessful. I found one a while back that was really good, looked like facebook (different colour scheme and dedicated for dating). But it had hardly any members!

Then there are the fake sites that pretend to have hundreds of thousands of members, when most were promised free accounts... but have to pay for searching/messaging options so leave the site quickly... Paying members then get to see these 'shells' of virtually 'fake' accounts whcih no one looks at or after.

Sorry for putting a downer on online dating, I am sure it works for some but don't expect it to be free and don't trust just any site. I hope some of the other members can point you in the right direction here. I know some have sucess stories from dating sties.

He seemed to have a new girl every other week, so i guess it worked for him...

As for if its a good idea or not, I wouldn't know, but i'd just say be careful anyway

Same, if you are looking for a relationship, it can be tough weeding out those just wanting fun, but you tend to get there with a bit of persistence

try oasis.com, its quite basic, but it does the job quite well

 mysinglefriend.com and the guardian paper seem to have one too. I have a friend thats had quite a lot of success from both. 

alot of my friends us http://www.flirtomatic.com but I'm not sure how good this is or how it really is like. They say they can get about 200 messages a time

Personally i recommend okcupid... Nice lay out plus its free, met my partner there... Great bloke. 

Match.com i would not recommend as they pick the matches for you, and i like to be able to choose who i want to talk to espaecially as they charge. Hope this helps

Sharron, not everyone finds it easy to hang around a load of piss 'eds in a smelly pub/club trying to shout into someone's ear that they have great boobs and would they like to share some bible reading later. Been there and done that and it was far from fun 

I'll second the recommendation for ok cupid got a lot of pervy emails but met OH through the site, no fees to pay but dont pay too much attention to their match %. According to them we are a 35% match but are happy and now living together.

I've met nice people on both. I meet my current OH through Fetlife tho, which isn't a dating site, its a forum like this but for fetishy peeps! We just meet up to talk about stuff we are both in to and went to some parties together and the relationship sort of happened a month or so down the line (the best drucken I kiss I ever had)

So maybe just joining a forum about something youre interested in and having unpressured meets or 'munches' is a good way to get to know potential people without creating any expectations? XX
