Not sure if anyone's mentioned this site earlier in this thread but I was looking though my saved pages and found this really good site reviewing all the different cups available. It may be useful to some of you other ladies.

Apologies if this is a repeat.

Really interested in getting one of these.
Came off the pill a month ago and after having no periods for 2 years it's now back with a vengence. It's reminded me of how dry tampons make me feel and how much it feels like I'm in a nappy with a pad.

It's been an interesting thread. May get one on payday.

I had a mooncup several years ago, but it kept leaking so i gave up on it.

This thread inspired me to have another try. I couldn't find the mooncup, so i bought a femmecup but i'm still finding it leaks, as well as doing other strange things.

One time i was laughing so hard about something the damned thing popped right out (i was laughing so much i had to crouch down on the floor because i couldn't stand and laugh at the same time!).

Another time i'd put the cup in before i went to bed, got up the next morning and went for a run. When i got back i got in the shower, went to empty the cup and found it was upside down! I'm sure i put it in the right way up!

My periods come every 3weeks, so if i can get this thing to work properly it would be a godsend!

I've tried putting it in different positions, but it always ends up quite high. I've done pelvic floor exercises since my children were born, so they are quite strong. I don't really know what else to try.

For anyone thats interested, the Femmecup is much squishier than the Mooncup. When you fold it up and insert it, the Femmecup sometimes needs persuading to pop open, where the Mooncup popped open quite readily.

It does say for the ladies. Periods aren't nice things at all, if somehow we can make it that bit more bearable than thats good.

Upside down?? What do you do to yours LOL

Mine leaks very occassionally but my MC does tend to move up and this is what apparently causes the leaking. But I truly don't get how yours can have gone upside down - a sobering thought!!!

Thankfully mine has never popped out whilst its in - its popped out during insertion but never whilst in..... not sure what to suggest Bumble?...... is the Femmecup any better than the MC?

Following on from this thread - has anyone tried Femmecup?

Its meant to be better than mooncup. I have looked at some reviews and its highly recommended. Anything is better than what women have to use in this day and age of technology -so I will order one and let you know how i get on!

I got a femmecup after reading the comparison blog. Just finished my third period with it and things went so smoothly I kept forgetting it was that time of the month.

I'm considering getting it to try but it's quite flexible and doesn't open as easily as the Mooncup - I'm teeny and won't be able to insert a finger at the same time to make sure it's open so I might get a cup that's smaller than the Mooncup but less flexible than the Femmecup.

On the femmecup packaging it says that it is Rentable. That appears to be the Spanish word they used to translate Cost Effective or Economique, but it did bring a smile. :-)

It might be a bit awkward but if anyone has had any practise at getting the Femmecup to open without inserting a finger I'd be grateful to hear if there's a knack or if it really does need a finger from time to time due to the flexibility! Adx

Ha ha - this makes me laugh!!

But as far as I'm aware rentable in Spanish is profitable in English - not sure if that makes sense in the context of what's on the packaging LOL

Sorry Ad, the way i do it is to give it a poke with my finger.

Have you tried folding it differently? Some methods of folding may allow it to pop open more easily than others?

I don't have one yet - but I have real tightness issues so I want to get a smaller cup than my Mooncup and am worried about the Femmecup's flexibility requiring a helping hand so to speak - I struggle to insert even one finger without lubrication which isn't convenient in a public loo hehe!

All i can think of is try different folds to see if one is better than another.

I try to avoid having to empty it in public lavs, my flow isn't too heavy, even on the heaviest days, so i find that as long as i empty it before i go out it will be fine until i get home! They have much better capacity than tampons don't they! :) Its a good job really, my emptying and re-inserting technique isn't very slick!

i'm so glad to see you are trying out the femmecup soon- i also found the dryness a real problem with tampons- they are easy to insert and fine when up there but so uncomfortable to take out. the mooncup and other versions are alot bigger than tampons but the material it's made with and it's flexiblity makes it easy to bear- not uncomfortable at all.

i would reccommend trying inserting the femmecup with a bit of lube before your next period as a tester. i did this simply because the first day of your period is messy anyway and if you have already tried inserting your femmecup once before it might be a bit easier when you actually come on. let us all know how it goes!

Thanks for the heads up kat, I will try that out.

I also had trouble taking tampons out as well.

    Will keep updating :)
