I really want to buy a corset and I wondered if anyone has any recommendations (I would be a size 14 or 16). All help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't wear corsets myself but would advocate finding somewhere locally that does them and going trying a bunch on.  This is what my OH did, and she can't praise the store enough

I would say firstly rather than going on clothes size, make sure you measure yourself in inches and go by that. There will still be some element of trial and error, but it will be closer.

It depends what you want out of a corset. I would recommend this one http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=27653

as you can have two corsets in one!

I also have this one, which I haven't had chance to wear for a long period yet but is great for covering my shoulders and back a little more, and I'm quite broad on my shoulders http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=26239

I have also just got this one http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=29305 through to review, and I love it. And it is sturdy enough that I've been able to do it up quite tight so I really do get a decent waist out of it!

I also bought this one, and it was a great, sturdy product, but the sizing just wasn't right for me unfortunately :(

These corsets aren't so good for your tradition tight lacing, while I happily wear the ones I have on nights out, they do mostly have plastic bones so won't provide as much holding in support as corsets can sometimes be known for.

    But still very sexy :)

The corset buying and measuring guide on LH is fantastic. I bought my wife a steel boned one for 30 quid a few weeks back and the quality is excellent. Makes her look very sexy too, I'd recommend them whole heartedly.

I have the corset on the link above. I love it and wear it often. It does provide a little space for your bust so as a D cup I find that I am not as 'squashed' as with a lot of other corsets. Mrs Badger

I have the shorter version of the one that Cornish recommended - I love mine too.

I know I'm a bit bias, but the Classic Satin Corsets are my favourite. I have the overbust design, an I'm buying this one next:

Another vote for the classic satin steel boned one here. They really are great and don't lose shape at all :)

There is a fitting guide here:

    http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/lingerie/buyers-guide/lovehoney-guide-to-corsets/

Also make sure you know the difference between a fashion corset (plastic) and proper steel boned one.  For me - if it isnt Steel boned, its not a corset.

(PS this is a couples profile)

I always thought that corsets were perfect if you had bigger breasts because they sort of pile them up a bit and give a great shape on top. If you're worried you could go for an underbust corset, I find them more comfortable than full corsets. All good quality corsets will be slightly flared at the top and bottom to accomodate breasts and hips and you can lace the waist tighter than the bust.

As to the 1st question, like everyone else I agree steel boned all the way. In terms of quality, shape and durability they cant be beaten. They offer the best waist reduction if that is what you are looking for as well.

If you've got a bit of cash to splash, then I highly recommend 'What Katie Did' corsets for a PROPER waist reduction :)

The Lovehoney steel boned corsets and Corsets-UK ones are good for their price, just don't attempt serious waist training in them as they're not for that. You can get an inch or so reduction from them but don't try harder than that, you'll damage yourself and the corset.

My oh has the half bust steel boned corset similar to ones mention above. She loves it, I love it and boy now I'm gonna have her put it on later ;)
