Just a quick question....

Do garters work when you wear them with stockings?  I hold all my weight in my stomach, so suspender belts look odd, though I do love wearing them.

I want to try garters, but I'm afraid that they would fall down at inopportune moments so...any advice would be appreciated!

Know it is quiet expensive but it is worth every penny. Has a great slimming effect around the tummy area and feels so  sexy.

 Garters are mainly just for show and a touch of sexiness they aren't designed to hold stockings up. If you get a garter with stiff elastic it may hold the stockings up better than just being by themselves.

Supsender belts (known as garter belts in the US) are made for holding up stockings.

Leg garters (a single band which slips around the thigh) *usually* won't be adept at holding up stockings. The tighter the fit around the thigh, the better the chance of them managing the job.
Example: Ladies Night Garter

If you like the look of leg garters, I'd recommend slipping them over some hold-up stockings to be on the safe side. Most leg garters are designed for looks over functionality.

Bit of a bump I know but in my experience when I've dressed and had the single garter on I've noticed that stocking stays up better. Not sure I'd want to put my complete faith in them though!
