I've gone up to a size 10 now so never get those comments any more ;-p But honestly I'm so out of shape. If I ever get back into shape I will go down to at least an 8, it's just my natural build.

 I'm a size 6-8 and the best place for smaller clothes is either Topshop, River Island or TKmaxx. River Island have the smallest jeans but Topshop the smaller tops etc...

As for underwear I find Figleaves quite good, especially for smaller bras.

This is interesting - I wonder if part of it comes from not realising the damage you're doing if their is no visible effects of eating badly or less healthy lifestyle.

And how much comes from not feeling guilty for eating unhealthily if you never put weight one. Then there's the idea that many slender women (though this is just experience) feel they have to be seen to be eating shed loads if they don't put weight on to "prove" that they aren't choosing to be that way!

So perhaps people who can't put weight easily have an unhealthier version of unhealthy because of all these factors.

It'd be interesting to see a study controlling these factors and seeing whether the effect remains or not!

I do find TopShop and Miss Selfridge good for my size and shop there a lot and I do buy childrens clothes....I just don't think vest and pants sets with My Little Pony on are very sexy!

I'm very glad for your posts Alicia. The constant prodding at thin/petite girls for their weight and almost as constant innuendos that they must have some kind of eating disorder to be so slim is not okay and people need to be aware that it's not an acceptable way to speak to people. I know you didn't mean harm Crag but at the same time you did repeat the 'unhealthy weight' thing even after apologizing. It is extremely difficult to judge a person's quality of health based solely on weight. Height, bone density, metabolism and a host of other things affect both weight and health. I am extremely slim to the point where almost everyone I meet feels the need to remark on it, but I am a healthy person who tends to their diet better than most and simply comes from a family of extremely petite women. If you feel the need to remark upon something you think is obvious, stop and think - how many people before me said the same to this person? Probably a lot. Not too many people think before they speak. Really, people have no right to comment on the mental or physical health of people they have never met or barely know - it is extremely insulting to imply a person is not taking care of themselves.

Anyway, Rebecca - I really wish I could help you! Unfortunately I struggle with the same issue of finding difficulty in clothes that fit. I recently stumbled upon Guess jeans - I never knew Guess made jeans but all the pairs I've tried on have been VERY snug, they are made for tiny people like us! Try them if you can find them, I think you might have a good shot at your local large department store. High-end brands often have smaller sizes also, though they don't often come cheap. As for lingerie - I'm not sure where you live, but here in Australia we have a store called Bras n Things. After years of searching for a bra that fit, I found that this store stocks bras with a much smaller back than most. This applies to some of their lingerie too. Otherwise, I'm sorry I can't help :(

I actually find quite a few cheaper places in town that stock on smaller sized petite style clothing. There are lots of cheaper clothing on shops like ebay that can be ordered from abroad that are really smaller in size. I'm on the higher end of the spectrum but I do find quite a few places that cater for the smaller build with excellent value. I'd recommend having a good look on the high rated ebay stores and looking at individual item reviews on how their sizing comes up.

The best way to go about it is trial and error. Many brands and labels come up smaller and/or bigger than the size stated. You'll get a feel for which stores are best for your size and build. Good luck!

 I tend to follow this. I have 2 main things to consider with regards to other people's appearances...

1) if there's something obvious - it's probably the same thing that that person is crushingly insecure about so it's best not to mention it (even if it's something other people want to be/have, we tend to not want to be different so we're insecure about things that stand out)

2) to boost someone (or a group of people's) confidence we don't have to insult someone with the opposite traits so to make curvy girls feel better we don't have to say things like 'no-one wants to hug a bag of bones' (if I had a penny for every time I'd heard that phrase I'd be a rich woman) and to make flat chested girls feel better we don't have to comment on disliking bigger boobs - just compliment the one without mentioning the other.

I know some women shop in the children's sections  for clothes and shoes. You can try there too .Of course you don't want to look like a child, but they do have items which are perfectly suitable for an adult.

i'm teeny tiny too- wear about a size 6 generally but it varies from shop to shop- my work trousers are from topshop- size 6 and are too big for me! but i can also fit into some size 8s (mostly tops though, not bottoms) and also fit into size 4.

miss selfridge are good for size 4, topshop are good, la redoute have started selling size 4.

marks and spencers tends to be where i buy most of my underwear- i wear a 30b bra and they have some sexy sets.

the good thing about your size is that you're quite short aswell so you can look for children's sizes whereas i am 5'4.5 so children's clothes are generally too short.

lovehoney have some lovely knickers on here which should fit you- i have a few- some smalls are size 6-8,  but haven't been able to buy any bras

i also find it very annoying when people think because you're thin you need to eat more and gain weight- it doesn't always work like that though! i weigh 6 1/2 stone, i eat the same portions as my dad at meals and cannot gain weight. some people are healthy being a small size- if i started eating fatty foods to try and gain weight i would be unhealthy and that is worse.

im about the same size as you. are you a member of ebay? if you go onto the u.s ebay into the lingerie section you will find many items of clothes and lingerie. most of it is sold by chinese sellers and chinese size s is a real size small, not like u.k small. also why i like it is because i dont like wearing the same things that everyone else is wearing so its not like you will see it in anne summers or anywhere in the u.k. some really beautiful things too, not at all frumpy. anyway hope that helps! x

Now lovehoney doesn't appear to do a size 4 but http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/lingerie/sexy-lingerie/all/6/all/all/all/all/ gives over 300 items of lingerie in a size 6. Some a 6-8.

With lovehoneys excellent returns policy why not order some different companies/styles and see what fits best. Some may not need altered to fit your 4-6 frame

I'm a size 6-8 but tall, and eat healthily (but a lot) and play a lot of sport. Lost count of the amount of total strangers that tell me to eat or stop setting young girls an bad example.  It's just the build i am, I'm larger than I was a teenager., for which I am thankful as it has made it easier to get clothing.

I've bought some amazing underwear in France, no idea of brands unfortunately as i cut all the labels out. & learning to sew has been a saviour, i can alter or make stuff to fit. Found lacey or chiffony robes are awesome in the bedroom as they skim and flatter!

Still trying to find the perfect corset, as I have a long back :(

Theres some great stuff on lovehoney, use their returns policy thats what I do. Avoid all the one size stuff, in my experience Dreamgirl and other US brands seem to be quite large on the sizing. I've got some lovely underwear from here. & as a bonus as I am small up top I can get away with skimpy bras that bigger girls find unsupportive, or no bra at all which my OH loves!

I've found steel corsets to be good. I'm a tall 6-8, eat loads (healthy and non-healthy food), do loads of sports. I've found plastic boned corsets to be hit and miss, but 18" and 20" corsets fit well. Sweet heart bust corsets aren't the best as I'm an A cup. For every day wear over clothing I can still wear 22 inch corsets :). Lh don't sell real corsets right now, but in another thread Bonny said they are planning on getting in some steel boned - which'll be great if they stock a good range of sizes.

I've ordered a few monsoon items recently, which have been the right length. Though most of there clothing only goes down to an 8. German clothing seems to be good for taller people and thin people, I'm lucky as my OH translates everything for me when ordering - even from ebay stores.

I have some designer French clothing,  but I've found sizing to be a bit big, mainly in the hips and waist. They seem to be good in bust sizing for smaller sizes. Just my experience though.

I love corsets but even when I find one thats good for my waist its stupidly short on me, having a long back sucks. & as much as I'd kill for a made to measure one...it's never not in my budget!

Ooh shall have to keep a look out for more corsets on here then!

 I used to be a size 4-6 and have found lots of clothes and lingerie on ebay. Steel boned corsets they have lots of mine are all size 22". Asda do a size 4 and a 6 in some of their clothing lines. Lipsy do small sizes to.
