Never bought before...

So my OH is away studying abroad for the year, I am going to visit her in December and really want to buy her some lingerie. Thing is I have no idea what to buy and have never bought anything like this before. Me and her have spoke bout 'sexy' clothing before and often she has said she just doesn't want to look 'tacky'. So now I really want to buy her something something that she will feel sexy in. Any idea's or thoughts would be great, thanks.

not sure what your oh would like but I am sure you have seen what she wears, I would play safe and probably go for something similar to stuff she would buy herself, as this is likely to be something that she would wear and feel comfy in

 I'd also say that unless shes extremely self confident, a babydoll might be a good first purchase, as it helps cover the midrift that the vast majority of women seem to be self conscious about.

 Thanks boobaloo thats pretty helpful actually. The thing is she doesnt really have sexy underwear or anything, as I'm her first partner. She has a few pieces but not much to work from.

I was thinking something like that eskimo as she is very selfconcious about her midrift, looking at some on here they all seem to cling to the body which I know she would not appreciate, is this just the general style of them? I'm also just worried that she will see it and think I want to cover her up, which is not the case at all.

I don't think that she would think that you were trying to cover her up by buying her a babydoll, I think that some of them are very sexy and if you get a silky fabric Im sure that she will feel very sexy in it,  I know that if my oh bought me something like that I would be very happy with it.

 If shes a plus size, there are specific types for the more fuller figured lady.

If shes just self conscious, there are a lot of loose fitting ones. My wife is in no way heavy, but as most women, hate her stomach, but Ive found many different types that she likes to wear (though, most are black, which again helps)

chemises and babydolls are often very sexy, but not too "offensive" if she is new to it. I am new to sexy lingerie and I went for a babydoll and I am very happy with the purchase. The only trouble may be choosing the right size as some makers have differences in sizing, even depending on the style of the chemise. Its sexy and I imagine it would be quite flattering. It also could be classed as nightwear, so not too offensive or overtly sexual. There's also various ways it could be worn so its not something that would be worn once then put in a draw. I would personally love someone to buy me something like this!

I think a great way to start off with is something that sexy and classy.  Thank you everyone, I have only just got on and seen this due to a family incident. They are all really nice, I did however go with a bra and thong set from a different site (I know im shameful :P ) Like speaking with her she said she would just be worried about it not fitting and stuff like that. Think she will be happier with this.

I do really what  Freebird posted though, I will have to keep that in mind for future reference. Nymeria that is really nice too although, don't know if it really my me and my OH.
