Rach74 - I saw them cheap but I thought it would be worth paying the bit extra to get the toy for my OH!

Finished book one lastnight and though I found it hard to read at times because I found it repetitive towards the end, I still plan on buying the following two books to see what happens next.

Seen on Twitter: "It is not possible to eat a banana and read 50 Shades of Grey on public transport without feeling a bit self conscious"

I actually do agree its poorly writen and more over, I find the characters very badly chosen. I will be writing my review finally tonight or tomorrow. As I was too busy at the university to do it, yet. But I dont think I would consider buying the other 2 books. I read fiction which was better writen with better plot in the past, too.And with more realistic too.

Mrs BigGee has just finished 50 Shades and her review was:
"Rude and unintentionally hilarious, but mainly rude!"

As a few have also said apparently it's not well written.

i ahve read all 3 and loved them, fully accept and appreciated the poorly written style, the assumptions about BDSM being fucked up and the saminess of all her orgasms - and on cue god damn it, shes just not human!! however i still love them, not everything can be perfect or shakespere, it was the perfect guilty pleasure to unwind and read some smut. Plus if it gets more people talking and open to the idea of alternative sex to missionary i take my hat off to it!!

After i read the fifty trilogy I searched for similar books to read and came across Tarasuemes trilogy, the submissive, the dominant and the training. Im halfway through the training and can honestly say its better written and more authentically BDSM than fifty, best of all its free as its a peice on fanfiction available online only. However I do warn you it is, Twilight fan fiction and all characters are based on twilight cast, so its about edward and bella, although there are some differences and thankfully no vampites or warewolves in sight!! it does feel a bit "samy" as fifty in some respects however hang in there as it is definatly better written in my opininon x

I bought this for my OH yesterday from Lovehoney. Could have got it cheaper from the supermarket or Amazon but I thought I'd show a bit of customer loyalty!

I daresay I will read it on my Kindle at somepoint too!

I have read these too, twice infact (sorry ha!) I did think they were a little repetitive in some parts, but quite addictive to read. The oh complained but I dont see him complaining now, its spiced things up in our relationship.

well I have read all three and agree not the best I have read. But what I love is the fact that everybody seems to be reading it even people who you wouldn't expect to and it leads to conversations you wouldn't expect!

Am I the only one that thought this book was poorly written?

I really don't get the hype of this book, I prefer my xcite's.  50 shade of grey was a hard read for me to get through.

I agree, they aren't very well written and some of the scenes are completely unrealistic, but despite all of it's flaws, I still need Christian Grey in my life!!!!

First & foremost I'm not a massive reader of fiction, much prefer non-fiction, but after hearing all the hype thought I'd see what all the fuss was about.

I don't like heavy reading. I couldn't put the book down, I really enjoyed it.  It was easy reading.   Some things about Ana I could relate to, her desire to want 'more' with Grey, being so obsessed with him & fighting with herself whether to tell him she loved him or not, then discovering that he didn't feel the same.

Finished the book last night & was feeling really down today: don't know if it's the book making me feel that way.  But was chatting to one of the guys at work today who says that he knows of at least 3 relationships that have ended due to 'that' book.  I failed to get to the bottom of why that is, but am intrigued.

Anyway, am now waiting delivery of the next 2 installments

I felt really down for a week after reading those books. I would say it was the book, or my desire to have a christian grey in my life that caused me to feel down.
