I have finished, and reviewed, all three books. I dont rate them much as erotica but as a romance, plus oodles of sex, I rate it highly. The sex seemes to be padding to make it a trilogy but for some strange reason that didnt bother me much ;)

I guess I either need break from research, or I am not into romance. I like it bit more than I did in the beginning, but its so so. Actually at a point when finding the translation of the Avesta more interesting. And thats without loosing my sex drive.

I am now on Chapter Eight, and I must say some of the reviews I read before starting it did put me off to begin with. But to be fair, after reading it this far I think some of the reviews I have read for this book are people just trying to pick out all the faults they can, when there actually is none. It is a novel, it is enjoyed by your imagination and it seems some people who have reviewed this book clearly have no imagination. I have yet to find any faults and I like the fact that it is (very) slightly unrealistic because that's what makes it so intriguing and fun. I would reccommend a true life story for the people that didn't enjoy this because so far I think it is great and actually struggled to put it down to write this! Books are what you make them and if it is hard to find pleasure in them then maybe this is not the type of book for you, but personally I love it!

This review sums up why I dont like the book so far. I find the characters annoying, especially Ana. And apart from her all insecurities, I am bit annoyed at her for not being hungry. Sometimes it seems like she does not eat at all? Like during her first night with Christian. I cannot imagine I would not be able to eat for a day just because I was with a man. She seems sometimes bit... unreal to me. But I am wondering where did all her insecurities come from? I know what a harrassment can do, and bad family background, but I there is nothing like that mentioned anywhere in the book, so far. I am also wondering at how 2 insecure people can survive relationship together. Been there and it is not a good mix. Not to mention, I think you need to have some self esteem and confidence to be a submissive. Or disaster can be on the way.

And so does Christian, someone who does not let woman too close, and suddenly he is changing so fast. I guess I have never been madly in love, but I still find it bit strange. Especially given his own insecurities too.

Btw. I cannot say I was that sexually active at 21. I did touch myself, but technically I was virgin, as I did not have full sex until later. but she seems really oblivious to sex for me. I know that some people do not are or do not read it for religious reasons. But does not seem to be the case.

I havent touched my version for 2 days, so still round page 150, but I admit I find it bit boring. Cannot help myself. Maybe I am not romantic.

Just finnished the fist book. i admit i found my face leaking when i read the last chapter- but then im hopeless.

it certainly has its fults and has annoying twilight connections but me and my partner still enjoyed reading it too eachother

if im not obedient he tells me "Anna would do it" (he hasnt read it from cover to cover though :P

it certainly souldnt be taken as educational in any way but its still fun

dont know wether to read fifty shades darker or story of O next (atleast the covers and blurbs of fift shades are discreat)

I read all three of these books in a few days, I couldn't put them down which is a recommendation in itsself. That said while there were definatly moments that made me squirm, I did have some issues with it. The connection between grays BDSM obssesion and the abuse in his younger days made me uncomfortable. I found the characters irratating at times .. and unlike alot of women I was not left with a crush on Mr Gray.

However like I said I couldn't put it down....and I'll still be booking tickets to see the movie.

    agreed

no, i have a crush on his "red room of pain" (althoughmy partner does sometimes make him call him Mr Grey- as a joke, after we read it together)

also, i wasnt sure if the twilight connections were good in a treasur hunt/ spot the simerlarities sort of way or just plain annoying

I'm half way through my copy and though I have a mix of likes and dislikes about it, I can definitely still see myself investing in the next two books when I'm done.

someone oi know said their mum read it but didnt like it cos it was "Too Sexual" so they stoped. i wonder if they knew it was supposed to be erotic fiction...i dont think there was enough sex (or variety in their sex) in the first book. gets better in the 2nd though and i think the plot gets more exciting too despite the fact its almosty identicle to twilight.

Am I the only one that thought this book was poorly written?

I really don't get the hype of this book, I prefer my xcite's.  50 shade of grey was a hard read for me to get through.

This was an odd one for me - this trilogy came highly recommended by many so I bought them all & you really genuinely can not put them down. Hours and days will pass and you will be too inticed to move. With that said, I feel it's a must read but once finished you realise maybe the author isn't the best writer there ever was. But, who cares. The story really sucks you in. Personally I thought the second book was the best and yes the author repeats a few phrases and when you start reading 50 shades of grey it really isn't what you expect. Don't give up, it gets better.
