Hey everyone!

I've just started re-reading Story of O (my favourite erotic novel) and I've been wondering what everyone else's favourite erotic books were... I would love to read something new once I'm done with 'O' so any recommendations would be fab!

:-)

Do you know I've never read one!

Any good recommendations? I'll buy one after this thread has enough replies :)

I haven't read any full erotic novels:

but I have liked the black lace quickies

and interview with a vampire turned me on, it's very homoerotic

I really want to read the story of O. My current fav is the Initiantion of Ms Holly, it has everything in it - so hot!

In too Deep by Portia de Costa is the first ever erotica novel I read and I really enjoyed it; possibly because it will always be the one that got me 'in to' these books.

But I also like Fredrica Alleyn and Cassandra's Chateau although I've read a few of hers now. She's more.. adventurous and there is certainly a variety of sex going on in this book. Some of it I found a bit 'uhhh?' at first but now I go with the flow..... literally!

The author Lora Leigh has done some good stuff but she tends to have glaringly obvious errors in her book. Still, I'm not reading it for accuracy - I'm reading it for sex.

Why can't I edit??

Well anyway, forgot to add I liked Fiona's Fate and Cassandras Conflict by Fredrica Alleyn too.

I tend to find an author I like until I get bored (or the scenes get samey) and then I move on.

Cassandra's Chateau and Cassandra's Conflict made for really good reading, I adopted them out but really wish I had kept them now :( In Too Deep and Up To No Good were good as well (all Black Lace).

I've been looking at Cassandra's Conflict for a while, I think I will have to get it now!

I highly reccomend Story of O, but maybe not as your 'first-fling' with erotica. Unless you're aware of the themes it can seem pretty dark and quite intense. Beautifully written though, definitely a great novel in its own right (with or without the erotica label).

Alice mentioned The Crimson Petal and White to me yesterday, which looks interesting. It's set in Victorian England but has been written recently. Not sure how traditionally 'sexy' it is though.

It's certianly not erotica, but explores Vicotriana and sex and is just a briliant read. Can lend it to you if you like! (Going slightly off-topic...)

For erotica, I can recommend The Initiation of Ms Holly - I'm really looking forward to K D Grace's new novel The Pet Shop. (Out in October!)

I can recommend it as well. It's not erotica but there's that one bit where she does her 'party piece'.

I've read The Story of O. Got it out the local library! Loved it, would really like a copy of my own, would really like to read it again.

Curently reading Mistress Extreme, it's an Xcite book. So far so good!

Other Xcite books I've read are The Eduction of Victoria The Education of Victoria&reviewpage=1 Really enjoyed that one. And Naughty Spankings 3. It is just short stories, good if you fancy a quicky! lol

Blondii The Story of O is brilliantly written, it was published in the 50's, fantasic for its time! It isn't out of date either, could so easily have been written recently.

I have heard lots of great reviews about The Story of O! Would people recommend it for an erotic fiction newbie like myself?

It depends what your field of experience is really, and how open minded you feel about certain things.  If you're totally new to the genre, I wouldn't say that it's ideal. But then, if you like submission, domination, bondage etc you might find it to your taste!

Have a read of this little extract and see what you think :-)

That reminds me I have a bundle of sub/dom books from the LH sale that I couldn't quite get into... It's far too "hardcore" for me. I should pop them into the Adoption thread. >.<

I have the "Seduction" collection from Black Lace and I absolutely love it. http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=15658

I also have "Cruel Enchantments" by Black Lace. I'm sure it'll be a great read as I love my fantasy style books. I don't think Lovehoney stock them anymore. o.O
