I've never really understood blogs, twitter etc...

I find them slightly creepy (still not on facebook!). We already live in a culture were we are watched constantly so I don't get why people broadcast stuff. I understand if people have a point to make, but telling me about your breakfast and how many 'lols' you got from that joke your boss told you is odd to me. Fair enough if you aim to entertain, inform, convince.

I think facebook is abit too voyeuristic, how many people trawl facebook looking at people they barely know! As I said I find it slightly creepy that lots of people can viw your details! (yes I know about privacy settings)

Each to their own a guess!

I have the same feelings about Facebook - some creepy little man kept buying my photo on Owned and I made my hubby buy it back, it went on for weeks too.

Hubby likes it because it's enabled him to contact loads of old Air force mates and he plays a lot of the games like Mafia etc.

I don't like that way my daughter's whole life is on there either, although it will be handy to keep track of her when she goes off to Uni next month.

The majority of people using OWNDED though Hun are just playing a game - by making your nubby buy it back over and over he is increasing his 'bank account' on there.  I wouldn't call that an issue with face book as it is an independent application.  IE: you don't HAVE to have it on your FB.  I wouldn't worry hun.

It's a new version of a diary (blogging) nothing new about wanting to share info.  My blog I mentioned here is part of my 'adult' online presence - nothing about my kids/address/work etc.

My facebook is only viewable to those I chose to allow. When you live miles from friends and family it's brilliant.

As I said, each to their own.

Diaries have usually been private.. I just get a bit uneasy with the issue that someone I don't know might want to know more about me! Its not an issue with me that someone is sharing the info its more that someone I don't know is interested. I find it a bit odd to follow someone like that. It seems slightly stalkerish to follow random people on the internet.

Some people enjoy writing, posting or reading blogs. I guess I just don't like the limelight!

Liie you said each to their own :)

People HAVE always published diaries and similar- in print, just now it is more accessable to the general public to publish their own.

It's not simply my everyday life; I blog specific subjects which people do want to read (aside from my adult blog I write about issues with disabled children and ASD etc as it is useful to read others experiences when you're living it yourself. )

It is also another outlet for my literature - I don't publish ALL of my writing online or elsewhere, so sometimes there are short stories etc that would never be read otherwise.

Fair play if it does not appeal to all - what does?

Some of us blog because we want to, it's as simple as that.

And don't worry, I'm sure nobody wants to know anything about you.  :p

I actually feel a bit crap now. I finally get around to doing mine - it's taken a while to find time -  and suddenly it's 'creepy' Cheers.

Um, not everything everybody says is truth for all time for all things.  If I called you an aardvark, would you be one?  :p

If you're creepy, then I'm creepy too.  And I know I'm not, so you do the maths.  :)

As you said, it doesn't appeal to everyone.

I personally find it slightly creepy, sometimes egotistical, some blogs only seem to be for attention others just a hobby.

Regardless of what I think you enjoy blogging and I don't see why my opinion should change that.

    Blog away.

It's awfully generous of you to give your permission for other people to blog.  I didn't know anybody needed it.

I'm guessing you don't actually read any blogs, because if you did, you wouldn't be so uninformed.  A blog is a medium, like a book or a film or a podcast, and it varies as much as the human beings who fill it.

Clearly the blogs you don't like are the ones you don't read, so if you don't even read blogs you do like, that would explain why you lump all blogs into "creepy", "egotistical", "attention seeking" or "hobby".  I have a hard time believing that you aren't aware that such generalisations are disrespectful and inaccurate.

So please excuse me if I regard your opinion on blogs as being underinformed and closed-minded.
