BDSM For Vanilla Lovers - An Introduction
Recently one of the Orgasm Army (the LoveHoney Community members) posted a thread in our forums about female dominance. Her partner was asking her to be more dominant in bed and she wanted to know how to go about this without hurting him. It raised a little alarm in my mind. Do people really equate dominance with inflicting pain? Granted, I can see where media has played its tawdry part in this mindset, but living in my own little bubble I presumed that the world of dominance had much more understanding.
The more I've looked into the vanilla viewpoint, the more I've realised just how many misconceptions there are revolving around the BDSM acronym - not just the domination aspect. BDSM stands for Bondage, Domination, Sadism and Masochism or Bondage & Discipline / Domination & Submission / Sadism and Masochism - depending on your interpretation. I personally opt for the latter (as the submission and discipline elements of BDSM, which the acronym fails to account for, are just as important) and it's this definition that I'll be exploring in segments over my next few Blogs.
